Am on the flight path for Birmingham and obviously not as busy as Heathrow there have been some interesting approaches today.

You know I spent 4 hours on Christmas Day watching his live stream from Heathrow. Love them.

I remember being flipped over on approach to a grass airfield when I was training to fly a glider. Came in nice and smooth, just dumped the remainder of our 1/2 load of water, and were about 5m above the ground when a gust blew us over...no time to react or save it and we just gracefully landed upside-down on the canopy.

A glider is not heavy, but is awkward to put the right way up when you're still strapped in! Luckily the ground crew were close by and got us out in minutes with zero injuries.

Only did it for a year as I got fed up with only ever getting about 1 in 3 lessons complete due to weather.
