without the help of you good folks I would have an underperforming PC that would probably be on fire within a couple of hours

I have gone for pretty much exactly what Steveyg suggested apart from losing the RGB on my Ram and got the Arctic thermal paste (why not?).

Looks like a really solid choice mate, what you've done is bought fantastic bones bascially. You'll be able to make upgrades to this by simply swapping the GPU a few years down the line and it'll be like a brand new machine again, you could push 7+ years out of this with appropriate care and upgrades easily

Yep, we've all been there, some of us more than once, just be careful about tweaking it before it goes into build

The PSU was to allow for a GPU upgrade in future, the weaker part of the machine is the GPU and the higher end beefier ones use ALOT more power so that's why we recommended the 850W as a minimum

When it comes time to upgrade you may have to change both the PSU and GPU which is quite a big job whereas swapping out a GPU is super easy

500mb to 1TB isn't much of an issue but I find it's harder to keep it at 50% capacity when I have so much space to use. Smaller drives encourage better house keeping hence the recommendation

With the tightness you should have saved on the drive and left it on the PSU

If you're doing it right you'll never be over 150GB on the primary drive so having the 1TB available is quite wasteful. Better to put the money into the secondary drive where you can go nuts.

The higher rated PSU would also offer better efficiency (cheaper leccy) and be more likely to remain silent under moderate usage. The £20 would pay itself back in no time at all.

Just had a little nosey there and the following:

850w PSU, 500GB P44 drive and 2TB P41 drive is £3 cheaper than
750w PSU, 1TB P44 drive and 1TB P44 drive.

And offers a significantly more manageable storage allocation
