Sorry posting again as hadn't done it properly...

Hi can anyone please tell me if this spec will suit an 8 year old who plays rocket league, fortnight and modern warfare? He also wants to stream on youtube but not sure if I need any further equipment for that, sorry I am a technically clueless mum trying to figure this out with a budget of around £800-£1000. thank you!

Oh thanks a lot for trashing my answer.
If it past the configure tools test and you meet the games minimal or suggested requirements not to worry.

Edit: I´may be not up to date with today´s all new hardware and a total pro on it but if i put my mind to it i have the skills to work with this. To put together a PC and know the software as well so i don´t appreciate the gesture, point taken though. I´m not the moderator here.

Hi TobSko, thanks so much for your input...I must apologise as I duplicated the thread and it looks like the moderators have deleted the one with your original comment, although I did get to read before it was deleted so thank you so much for assistance.

Do you really need two monitors for an 8 year old? remove bullguard will save a little bit of money and the LED's. Have a look at this thread by one of the moderators and add your monitor. https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/threads/desktop-building-guide-sept-2020.67892/

Scroll down for thr the cheapest ope "entry level 1080p" fotion. To add there are newer cards and CPU's out so the guide might be slightly outdated
I didn't think I would need 2 monitors but my older son seems to think so...I think one would be sufficient to get him started. thanks.
The LED's are a big thing for him, he has asked for them specifically on his Xmas list so I would like to keep them on there. Thanks for the thread. I do appreciate any input...gaming pc's are a minefield...I had no idea.

No problem! :) And i who thought that some moderator had it in for me or something (poor feedback from me or something).
Good luck with your new PC now. Good day

The problem you have here is your budget. Whilst a basic gaming system may just about be doable for your budget, a system capable of streaming is a different matter....a capture card will be needed which will be £130+ for just that..it will need a better CPU, more RAM as it won't cope with the demands of gaming and streaming.

Including all the accessories etc, plus the 2 monitors, this would be the minimum for a streaming system:

Case
FRACTAL FOCUS G BLACK GAMING CASE (Window)
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Six Core CPU (3.6GHz-4.2GHz/36MB CACHE/AM4)

Graphics Card
4GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1650 - HDMI

1TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 64MB CACHE
1st M.2 SSD Drive
512GB PCS PCIe M.2 SSD (2000 MB/R, 1100 MB/W)
Memory Card Reader
USB 3.0 EXTERNAL SD/MICRO SD CARD READER
Power Supply
CORSAIR 550W TXm SERIES™ SEMI-MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET

Thanks for this I really appreciate it. I did worry that my budget wouldn't cover what he needs. Unfortunately my budget of £1000 is an affordability issue rather than a choice so as much as i would like to, I wouldn't be able to purchase the recommended build. It may have to be that his streaming career has to go on hold for a year or so :( either that or i could trim one of the monitors and cut back on some other extras. I will have a think on that. thank you again for responding.

If you are playing the game from the computer, and then streaming them to YouTube or Twitch from the computer, I dont believe you need a capture card, you can use a free software calld OBS, i believe YouTube has it's own built in software.

You can certainly, it's just the capture card offloads a lot of the processing off the CPU / GPU to give better gaming performance.

While a 3600 COULD adequately stream and game at the same time, you'd have to manually set 2 cores to the stream and leave only 4 for gaming. In the majority of games CURRENTLY that would be fine, but more and more games are now happily utilising 6 cores, and games like Battlefield or procedural RTS games will pretty much swallow anything you throw at it, so futureproofing wise, if you're streaming you really want 8 cores as a minimum (if not using a capture card) thereby having some headroom of cores for the stream.

On that build, it's very limited with regards to streaming without a capture card. IMHO I would say it's cutting it too close without a capture card.

Fair enough. Well, if you remove the capture card, one of the monitors and the storage drive, then you could go with a slightly better grapohics card and only be marginally over. Storage drives are cheap enough these days and simple to fit:

People are streaming and playing games on a single computer using a AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6 Core, 16GB DDR4 3000, 6GB GTX 1660, new titles as well, I was just adding that seen as Nursemorph said "well if you remove the capture card" that they could still us OBS if they are still wanting to stream. nothing more, just letting them know they can still stream without a capture card on that budget.

EDIT: spelling and adding that while you can still stream, it wont be using the top setting, if you do use OBS or Twitch stuido, or YouYubes streaming softwear, they have a auto configure that will test the computer and internet so see what the best setting are, also a good internet conection will be needed,
