Please would someone with gaming knowledge review this build

Hello guys,

This is my custom build for a PC which I believe will suit my needs and simultaneously ensure I get value for money.

I intend on using it for gaming (Warzone, WoW, Valorant, EFT, CSGO, DayZ - just to give you an idea). Also, less significantly general light word i.e. Microsoft Office. No processing, etc. Though maybe I would consider streaming a few games - what do you think?

Because I want to utilize my PC primarily for gaming purposes, I'm thinking the AOC Q27G2U 27" 1440p 144Hz gaming monitor would be suitable. Playing in 4K has no interest for me and I feel my build represents this. (I prefer flat screen monitors so if you have an alternative for similar value, pls suggest).

Budget wise I say this is the most I'm comfortable paying for. In an ideal world I would invest in a 3060 Ti GPU but the additional cost and no-stock issue for that reason I've chosen the RTX 2060.

Also, if I were to order this, when it arrives will it so to speak be ready out of the box or is there any additional things I need to do? I'm not sure how much PCS do apart from building it.

The 2060 will struggle at 1440p 144hz. It should manage 60fps at 1440p but will struggle anymore than that. You would really need to look at the 3060ti for that monitor :)
There’s some areas you can save on that build to get the 3060ti for your budget :)

If you could show me what savings could be made to accommodate for the 3060 Ti, please let me know!

I'm still happy to game at 1080p though nonetheless

The biggest change would be going for a slower m.2 drive but the PCS one is still decent I use it. The 980 is a beast of a drive but is a luxury item when budgets come to mind. This still leaves you future upgradability and performance at 1440p.

If you buy a 1080p monitor then your original build is more than fine. But no point buying a 1440p 144hz monitor and not enjoying the benefits of it :)

Thank you. In regard to what PCS do, could you explain what is it they do apart from just building the PC. Do they install the necessary drivers, bios updated etc? Or is there certain things I'll have to do when I get it out the box?

It will be ready to go out of the box. First thing to do once you’ve turned it on is perform windows update until it won’t let you do anymore and update the latest driver from the Nivida website. As it’s easier to do it then than once you start installing your programs.

Don’t need to worry about the BIOS as will be sorted by PCS (plus it can impact your warranty if you touch it)

Last question (I promise haha). Do you think there's much difference between 3200Mhz and 3600MHz (I've only ever gamed on 3200Mhz) and also is there much benefit in having the additional fan case which I originally added, or could it be done without?

I wouldn't expect there to be a noticeable difference between the 3200mhz CL16 RAM and the 3600mhz CL18 RAM from a gaming point of view. If you're using your PC for content creation, high level editing, then the RAM speed might give a more significant increase in performance, but for gaming it'll only be a few frames at most between the two.

Also thought I would give my spin on the build. Taken the cooler out and downgraded the motherboard so I could buff PSU and Storage.
