Potential new build - from a complete novice.

I wouldn't recommend that cooler to be honest. It's massively over-priced and the quiet fans affect how efficient it is. Better to save the money and just go with the Coolermaster 240.

Thanks Scott, luckily this seems in stock which is good as a lot of them aren't! Apart from this, do you reckon this configuration looks good? Pretty much ready to go ahead and order if it does! :)

Sorry for jumping back onto an old thread - Thinking of upgrading my case to something a bit more premium. I've taken a look at Scott's building guide and was looking at the Define 7 but I think its a bit too long to fit where I want it. I was thinking maybe the Meshify S2 blackout? Any other recommendations people had would be cool - only preferences are ideally being able to see inside, be reasonably quiet and having decent airflow. Not too bothered about RGB but wouldn't say no!

Also, the Corsair H100i is back in stock - and was the cooler Scott originally suggested. Would it be a good idea to switch that back in over the CoolerMaster 240 lite that I currently have selected?

The Define 7 is currently out of stock anyway so that may not have even been a choice. The Meshify is a good case...not sure how quiet it is but Fractal say the fans on it are quiet. Beyond the Define 7, no other case does airflow and quietness as well as they all sacrifice one or the other to some degree.

As to the cooler, if your budget allows, then definitely upgrade it to the H100i...it is a far superior unit which is much quieter due to the fans on it (they use magnetic levitation rather than traditional means of moving the fans.....like the difference between a Maglev train and a normal locomtive running on electric tracks). If you are upgrading to the H100i then, providing it fits in the case, I'd spend the extra £11 and just upgrade to the H115i

Thanks for this, I actually selected the changed to the Define 7 the other day, but was reconsidering changing again - So I must have got one of the last few in stock as it was showing up fine at the time, and hasn't affected my projected build date so I think I'll keep it as is!

In this case, would the H115i fit in this case? If so, I'll go ahead and switch :)

Well, I've recommended plenty of Define 7s with a H115i and I don't recall anyone mentioning that it doesn't fit...near as I can tell the D7 can take a 360mm radiator and the H115i has a 240mm one.

Make sure to select the right H115i....you want the RGB Platinum one (the last one on the dropdown menu) rather than the one you have selected...it is a much better cooler and is a newer version

Oh got it! I've changed to this one:

Corsair H115i RGB PLATINUM Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler

Thanks!

I have this case and cooler. It is an excellent combination and obvious why the two are recommended so much. Quiet, cool, room for upgrades and so happy with both.
