Problem Gaming With New PC (AMD 5900x) (Zotac 3080 RTX)

Hello there,

I have had my gaming PC for a few days now and am struggling to get it to function properly as a gaming PC. I purchased it primarily to play VR games using my Oculus Quest 2 wirelessly. I replaced a 12 year old PC that had no issues with VR and gaming wirelessly apart from the spec was bad so the graphics were not very special (GTX 970) (Slow Memory) (I7 930). I am having issues with all games where the textures are not loading up quick enough and am getting some stuttering during play, making it impossible to enjoy. I was wondering if anyone else had any issues and if there is a fix. I contacted Zotac and they believe it is a driver issue and said maybe i could try rolling back the driver, not sure if this is good information or how to do this. Does anyone have any info about any of the above and if they use there pc for VR gaming and if they had issues with rendering or stuttering with a Zotac 3080 RTX?

Have you set up windows?

Can you take a screenshot of your windows update page?

Did you reinstall windows at all when you got it or are you using the install that came with it?

Hi there,

It came with a copy of windows but it started having issues, it deactivated, i then purchased it and installed it myself. I have fully updated it to the latest update version and there are no more updates, i have also updated all of the drivers etc etc, removed anything to do with RGB or monitoring softwares. I am also having problems using the USB ports to use Link Cable, i have been doing a lot of research and people have been having similar issues with my motherboard type and using the Quest 2. I have spoken to Oculus, Zotac and Nvidia support and have not managed to sort it out yet. Thanks for the reply. I have attached my windows update status picture. I have also tested the speed of the wifi through the Quest 2 and getting a solid 300mbps. Normal games like Far Cry 6 seem to work okay, but the intro videos and also cutscenes are also stuttering and choppy for some reason but once again there are quite a lot of reports about this.

Thanks

I used a Sandisk Flash drive by using media creation tool, i then changed the boot settings in the bios so that it read from the sandisk and it all loaded up fine.

Yes, but what method did you use to install? Did you delete all existing partitions?

How did you install drivers? Where did you source them?

It's best to fully uninstall ccleaner, it was compromised a long time ago and is malware now. It's marked as a PUA by most virus scanners these days.

How did you install graphics drivers? What AV are you using?

Sorry for all the questions, just need to understand your process and setup as there is only one way to configure windows 10.

Okay thanks, well that has been removed very quickly. I do have Norton 360 and Malwarebytes scanning on a daily basis and it hasen't picked anything up as of yet. Graphics drivers were through Nvidia Experiance, what do you mean by AV sorry?

Cheers

Where are you storing the games? Have you added more storage space, or are they on the hard drive? If so, that could be your problem in and of itself.

Do you mean you have malwarebytes other than in free mode?

You can't have multiple scanners on a system as they conflict and lock files and slow the system down.

Also, I would strongly recommend uninstalling Norton anyway, it's very poor by todays standards.

But yes, you need to make sure Malwarebytes has the trial or live scanner disabled.

Yes i have the paid for version of Malwarebytes and also Norton 360. Which virus software would you recommend?

Also what is the best way to update any drivers that need updating as there seemed to be a few in CCleaner but that has gone now and they dont show in windows update. Are there any reliable trustworthy programs to do it?

I have just tried another VR game and it worked fine, The Walking Dead Saints And Sinners, i also got Hellblade to eventually work. I disabled Antivirus turned of RGB Armory Crate and Remove Icue software for RGB, just been slowely disabling things and seing what seems to work best. I also switched from Wifi 6 back to my regular virgin router.

By the way i dont mind the questions, Zotac didn't ask anything just wanted to get rid of me, Oculus only know about the Quest and didnt have any sugggestions, Nvidia were rather helpful until my Quest 2 died and i could no longer try anything out. I'm glad someone is interested at last haha
