Yes i have the paid for version of Malwarebytes and also Norton 360. Which virus software would you recommend?
So as said, you can't have paid malware and another AV package running at the same time. That's almost certainly what the problem is.

I would fully uninstall Norton as it sucks at the best of times, you have to use their uninstaller to fully uninstall it, doing it from program and features won't actually uninstall it. You may find a clean install of windows is actually the best way to get a clean installation though.

Then demote Malwarebytes to the free version which turns off the on demand scanner, just use it for manual scans every week or month or so.

Then just use windows defender for AV.

Also I would manually install the chipset drivers as windows update tends to install the incorrect version.

The ONLY way to configure drivers is windows update and then manually with chipset and graphics. Don't use any "driver updaters", most are malware at worst, but all will incorrectly configure windows at best.

Where can i get the chipset drivers? I would assume from Asus website maybe. I have never really bothered in the past to be honest but i probably should. Is windows defender any good Ive always been told to use a third party app and never really looked at it previously.

Okay cool i think ill give it a go and remove everything else and turn malwarebytes into the free version when it runs out. I dont think i am allowed without voiding the warranty to update the bios but my bios is out of date or atleast not the newest one, i have read updating the bios could fix my usb issue with not recognising certain things, such as my quest will charge but not pair up and my xbox adapter for controller for pc will light up but wont sync with my controller. Was just wondering if a Bios update is worth doing if i can get permission or is it not all that?

Again, you can't use malwarebytes paid alongside another scanner, you can only have one active scanner at a time.

If you're having USB disconnect issues, then definitely raise that with PCS, as yes a BIOS update could resolve that, but you need to do it with their approval as you rightly say.

Hi SCK451,

I am storing the games on the 6TB HDD
That's not going to be a good time for you. It's a slow drive even by hard drive standards. I'd recommend gaming off a modern SSD, which is likely to be in the region of 20 times faster. As a test, I'd suggest installing or moving a game to the SSD and testing to see if that improves performance.

I did try moving the problmatic games over from the HDD to the SSD but it still had the same problems. I purchased it more for storage to be honest. I was going to wait a bit for prices to go down a and then buy one with a bit more space. Im okay with slow load times for the time being to be honest it will give me a bit more time to save for a bigger SSD, this will probably be my last gaming machine anyway I'm probably way to old to be gaming anyway lol Im pretty much just using it for the better graphics for the VR, The Quest is my new toy at the moment.

Can i use Malwarebytes free with the Windows defender? Also in the chipset drivers there is one that is unchecked called AMD Processor Power Support, should i leave that one alone?

Yes, you can use mawarebytes free with any scanner as it turns off live scanning.

You only want rhe chipset driver, nothing else.

Brilliant, i shall remove the Norton and turn windows defender back on. Thanks for your help by the way to both of you i really appreciate it. I should have come here first.
Remember to use Nortons uninstaller tool, you can't uninstall it as you normally would uninstall a program, doesn't work. You have to use their official uninstaller.
