Well 6 years ago today i ordered my Optimus Series: 17.3" its been an absolutely brilliant machine and tbh although not the most powerful its played everything ive thrown at it reasonably well over the years!

Is this just for gaming? I think you've over-hit on the RAM & CPU tbh. It's going to be a beast though, no doubt.

Is faster RAM not an option? 32GB would be a sweet spot for laptop gaming IMO.

as far as i could see it was the fastest ram available. i know its overkill but ill keep it for years lol

Just seen that the options are quite limited. If you've got the budget for the RAM then it won't cause any harm but just be aware that it won't affect the longevity of the laptop for gaming. We need around 8-16GB for most gaming. A few games will stretch that, but nowhere near 32GB. We're many many years from 32GB being a limitation.

Yeah, I've spent years on here looking at the most maxed out laptop, lol, never thought I'd be able to go for it! The wait is going to be horrible!

There's a lot of confusion with RAM, 64GB will just literally never be accessed, it's a huge waste of quite a substantial bit of money for your uses. It doesn't do anything for system performance, more RAM doesn't mean faster, that's not how it works.

You can happily reduce to 32Gb (2 x 16) without affecting performance and still have more than you require.

64Gb just won't be used, ever, it will literally sit there without any electricity ever routing through it, total waste.

Wow, i never actually knew this! I assumed that if it's installed it was available for use, never thought that it wouldn't even receive any power. I'll have to look into this further. Thank you.

SODIMM memory can't go about 4800MHz. It's literally at the limit of what's physically possible. Anything faster will be soldered onto the board. There are new memory standards in the works, but SODIMM is at its limit there for now.

Didn't know that, that's an interesting point though. The SODIMM have always been slower to catch up :)
