Rakks planned new machine!

They have very similar R/W speeds, you basically pay a premium for Intel (as is always the case). I doubt you would notice any difference between the two, only benchmarking may show something up.

The intel has a 5 year manufacturer warranty as opposed to 3 with the Kingston but as Kruppsy (who is avoiding me in Steam!!!) you won't be able to notice the difference unless benchmarking.

oh yeah, just so you go over your budget a bit more :) Why not go for the Corsair H60? if you go for the K series that is, :)
I just don't like the idea of water and electrical stuff living together in the same small-ish box :)

rakk what's your current spec?
My current machine is an i7-930, 6GB RAM (the i7-900 series used triple channel memory so multiples of 3 was best), GTX460, Coolermaster Elite 310 case, 650W Corsair PSU.

I'm still trying to decide whether to get the k version of the i7-4470 but I think I've decided that a 120GB SSD will do for now - though it may be the Kingston 3K one instead

i'd go for a kingston drive too :)

ya could always go for a standard hdd now, then add a 60gb later (for your OS) and get a 120-240gb ssd for a few games or whatever.

If it helps with your choice I got a nice intel sticker with my SSD.

lol, but once they are on your case... they aint coming off! not great if you dont put them on straight :surrender:

I did this on an old PC, think I got a twitch in my eye or something at the crucial moment and bam it was stuck there, haha :(

I definitely want an SSD now though, and well, I hate reintalling stuff like Windows later, I'm sure I always forget something important when doing so.

120GB - 240GB Kingston SSD... DO IT! :)
You are not helping with me keeping the price down :tt2:
Want the 240Gb one, but my that'd put it even more over budget than it already is.

I don't like stickers on my PC, I prefer it without, I have my PC in my main living room so don't want stickers cos they'll make it stick out more, thats why I chose a more subtle looking case :)

I'm dreading 2014 when this one likely gets replaced. I was quite restrained all told last time...too much time on here will likely lead me to be cajoled into adding more and more stuff :D

looks at your spec mate, you may as well stick with the i7 2600 and maybe upgrade the gpu if required.

Yes, request a discount :) you work very hard moderating the forum

And then those 2 words will ring around your noggin...

Fast.Track.Fast.Track.Fast... :D

PCS....at least give Rakk a free fast-track for *cough* services rendered *cough*

I think the best help I can give is to keep quiet about builds and parts and go find some useless pictures/information to post instead :)

We've all got our parts to play in lifes rich tapestry ;)

Well in my opinion the Kingston SSD looks nicer if you are going for internal looks

Oh don't say that now I've ordered an Intel!

The Intel drive is the faster drive but also more expensive, unless your going to leave your case side off to look at the SSD every day then my above comment has no real relevance. Apart from the fact ive got two of them!

So one question I have, the boost on the CPU's, that comes into action when the CPU is basically at full speed if more is needed isn't it, ie. it doesnt require a specific command from whatever is using said CPU?
I seem to remember when I first used EQ2 on my current machine I got warnings about one CPU being used excessively, so something like that I'm guessing would trigger the boost - though is there any limit to how long the boost will hold - or would it start to object?
