Random Crash during Gaming - Happened consistently

I just been reading and noticed you getting whea error message. Just like to say I was having the exact same issue when playing destiny 2. I was on phone to pcs and we did some tests
1. Cpu stress test comp never crashed.
2. Memory test. I went from 4x 32gb to 8gb. Never crashed. I sent my gpu back thinking it was that as I installed 1050ti was having no issues. Replaced gpu was still having issues. So rang pcs back and they did some test on my nvme drive. They checked speed for my main drive and I wasn't getting the speed I should. They think it might be my main nvme drive. So what I did was reinstalled windows on to my 2nd nvme drive and wiped the main drive clean and sent back. Since I installed windows on 2nd drive. I have had no issues or error code. Touch wood. Waiting for my main nvme drive to arrive back and try again
Hi Carlos, thanks for this. Definitely something I was considering last night - just clean install Windows. Is there some sort of test I can perform to check the integrity of the nvme drive?

PCs Downloaded that. ( Crystal Disk Mark ) To check the speed of the drive. when they checked that i wasn't getting the speed. https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskmark/

They also downloaded another software which took over an hour and that told them if the was any errors/faults with drive but can't think of name. will try and find out for you.

My new drive arriving tomorrow. So i will be able to confirm if it was the drive or not. But that is what i am thinking as i been able to game and stream without issues over xmas on my 2nd NVme drive and with my 3080.

Something of an interesting development. I had another google about and found someone recommending disabling the "performance core boost" feature in the BIOS, which ups the voltage in a core to handle additional load. Since disabling that, the game hasn't crashed all day (previously it was multiple times a day)

I think this only points more firmly to the CPU being faulty, since it can't handle voltages that should be well within tolerance. Am I right in thinking this?

Yes, definitely, that's not a fix, it's just lowering the CPU performance and preventing the error showing. Definitely don't settle for that, as you say, it points to an issue with the CPU or motherboard.

Just to let you know. I got my new NVMe Drive this afternoon. Installed done everything. Still having issue. I been back intouch with PCs and it sounds like my motherboard. When both NVMe Drives installed I get blue screen of death. Soon as i remove a Drive and only 1 installed. Works Fine. So defo something to do with my motherboard.

Does anyone know if PCs sends new motherboard out. or will i have to send my system back. Thanks.

You'd need to send the pc back, a motherboard change is basically a full system rebuild.

Gen 3 is half the speed of gen 4 so would limit your 980 pro to 3500mbs r/w
