I'm imagining the 3Gbit transfer speeds forthe Vertex would be a disadvantage for an SSD..
someone please correct me if i'm wrong

well, i guess there is no difference between those 2 cause of this.
vertex:
Data transmission
Read speed 285MB/s
Write speed 275MB/s

realssd:
Data transmission
Read speed 355MB/s
Write speed 70MB/s

The C300 is faster at random reads and sequential reads whereas the vertex 2 is faster and random writes and sequential writes. The vertex 2 gets a higher score in PC Mark Vantage overall (17,103 vs 16,107) and they both have TRIM support. They both pretty similiar in terms of performance, the C300 used to be a bit cheaper but there's not alot of difference between the 2 now. If you're thinking about buying a new computer from PCSpecialist it would be better to go with the Vertex 2 as they stock them and won't dely the build time.

Either what youve just put above me.

Or, one of each, seperately, giving you more flexibility.

Also, judging by that cable (althouh poor quality) that is only a 3GB/S cable, you'd benefit from a 6GB/S cable for a solid state drive.

If you bought any of the X58 boards from PCS (which ya did because I remember you had a i7 950 speced) you need to find the second black SATA 6G cable provided by ASUS. Should be in the boxes somewhere. That will be your data cable and looks like this:

Then you need the power cable, here:

6 hole (5pin) connector goes in PSU, flat connector in solid state drive.

You can also use any spare flat connectors that would be very near to the one connected to your current HDD. There should be 2-3 spare hanging off the same cable your HDD is connected to.

wait, will ur first pic (wire) support this ssd? 60GB Vertex 2 SSD. cause as i can see its 3gb instead of 6.

Nah 6gb/s :) The pic isnt very clear but that is a genuine 6gb/s cable :) You can tell its 6gb/s because there are 2 plastic coatings coming out of the head, with 2 seperate wires. 3gb/s cables only have one plastic encasing.

I guess u didnt got my point. vertex 2 supports only 3gb cable. So 6gb cable is useless!! isnt it?

Never really looked into them, all i can say is, a 6gbs one :) Atm theyre not worth the money though imo

well i found crusials using 6gb but read/340mb, and write/70mb. so i guess not worth it for 120pounds instead of this vertex 2E read/285mb write/275mb 100poungs - (60gb both).

If you really really want an ssd now, go for that, but tbh give it 6 months and theyll have already improved astronomically
