I recently upgraded from the 3900x to the 5950x with the
PCS FrostFlow 100 RGB V3 Series High Performance CPU Cooler

but since the return I often hear an extremely obnoxious rattling which you can hear on this link:

I'm wondering if a fan could have become dislodged in transit or if it's just the new frostflow fan. Just to clarify I love PC specialist and think the service has been incredible I just want to know if anything could have been damaged in transit or is this sort of rattling normal as I never expereienced it previously.

The rest of my specs are below:
Graphics Card12GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 - HDMI, DP, LHR
ASUS® TUF X570-PLUS GAMING (USB 3.2 Gen 2, PCIe 4.0, CrossFireX) - ARGB Ready!
64GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 3200MHz (4 x 16GB)
1st M.2 SSD Drive2TB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3500MB/R, 3300MB/W)
1st Storage Drive1TB PCS 2.5" SSD, SATA 6 Gb (520MB/R, 470MB/W)
3 x Corsair LL120 RGB LED Fan + Controller Kit
Power SupplyCORSAIR 1000W RMx SERIES™ - MODULAR 80 PLUS GOLD, ULTRA QUIET

The cooler is nowhere near suitable for the cpu. You really need an H150i on that processor

well I just monitored the temps while recording on obs and playing vr and it never went above 90 - I'm curious as to why you thought it would be insufficient but upon hearing that pc specialist said it would be fine you changed your mind? Either way it didn't really address the question of my post.

Well I give up. 90 is thermal throttling but obviously you’re not concerned about performance or a balanced build.

Why ask for advice and then state you know what’s best? Sorry but rather pointless.

I’ll lock this thread.

And thanks for the report, that’s really kind.

To answer your question which I already have in fact but you weren’t able to hear it, the cooler is not suitable for the processor, it will be running at full pelt under even moderate load which it’s not designed to do. The rattling is the least of your concerns though if you continue to use it.

And I never changed my mind about it being unsuitable, my point was you raised a question here asking for advice, were given the answer and then stated someone else had told you something different. Choose your support channel, if you want to go by PCS advice, by all means do, but if you’re posting here, our advice will often be different as we’re coming from a technical viewpoint rather than a sales one.

If you’re not interested in our feedback then it’s pointless asking for advice on here
