What I was looking for?
I was in the market for a medium to high spec laptop in 17 inch screen size. Looked at different options from Razer, MSI, Asus and Dell Including Alienware line. But any laptop with similar specs was atleast £1000 more than what I could get with PCSPECIALIST.
What I Got?
I had no prior experience with them so it was not an easy decision. I was a bit skeptical about the temperatures and fan noise at normal workload. Of course while gaming or doing intensive work one expects the fans to kick in. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. The chassis is very sturdy and not too large considering it is 17 inch. I have included a pic showing it next to my 15.6 inch ASUS laptop.
Build Quality
The top lid is made of aluminum and has smooth finish which result being a finger print magnet but feels nice to touch. The wrist area is quite spacious as expected. Key press has a nice feel as well not too mushy in my experience but people using high end keyboards might disagree. Mouspad is large and responsive. FHD screen is nice, thin bazels give a premium feel. I have not tested the webcam but based on some YouTube reviews can expect it to be quite mediocre.
Order Process
Order process was bit longer than what I anticipated. I was given a 4-6 days build time when placing the order. In reality took 14 days (10 working days).
I chose not a have Windows installed as saved me quite significant amount. Got the Windows key from ebay for a fraction of the price. At the moment my only gripe is the power button to be too stiff for my liking. Don't know if it is supposed be like this or is it just my machine. Second thing which I am less impressed with is the software utility to control RGB kyboard. Feels like very old app from XP era, does the job though.
Still early time to give a verdict on reliability. I'll keep updating here if experience any thing extraordinary. Hope that someone out there might find it helpful.
