Replacing cmod battery

hi,

I’m trying to replace the cmod battery on my laptop, looks like it’s molded to the motherboard with wires coming out of it. Not sure what to do at this point since the videos I’ve seen the battery pops out. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

On the underside there should be a label with the chassis model number, could you post that please?

How come you're replacing the CMOS battery?

When she booted up the laptop there was a CMOS error that comes up every time. The welcome booklet said that it’s usually the CMOD battery.

Thanks, that's perfect, and yes, the BIOS message usually means replacing the battery is a good step.

According to the board picture on page 1-11, this is a closeup of the CMOS battery

These are actually fairly generic parts, but as a first port of call, I would give PCS a call just to see if they have any official parts in stock that you could get.

We can see it's a CR2032W at 3.0V with the red pin on the right of the connector (bumps facing up).

As a fall back though, you can pick up one from Amazon on the cheap:

Just be aware of the polarity on the 2 way connector. The one on the Amazon link is opposite to the one in the manual. Very easy to carefully lift the tabs on the housing and swap the crimps around thought. Just make sure the colours match the one you have.
