Review Fusion III 14'

I have bought a Fusion III 14' both for personal usage and for my new career as Ph.D. (Aerospace Engineering field). I need a pc that combines good performances with great portability. The Fusion III 14' has both! Very light and compact, the components are really good and the overall price is extremely competitive. Furthermore, the pc is very aesthetic. The chassis is also very nice to the touch. The display is amazing. The touchpad is large and works well. The keyboard is well-made. Up to now I am very happy of the purchase! I recommend the purchase to who is looking for a notebook which is compact and powerful. The pc has arrived earlier than expected and it traveled in a well-made package that was safe and resistant.

Also can anyone confirm if the Fusion has the 10W or 25W MX250? e.g. with a screenshot from GPU-Z with the device ID?

It's the 25W version, the device ID is n1D13. I don't have an external mouse to check - I think it's the quality of the material the trackpad is made out of just isn't very good. I've got an old (and cheap) Asus that has an excellent trackpad and tested one or two other laptops and they are all so much better.

It's pretty frustrating, because otherwise the system seems pretty good, but with a bad trackpad the whole laptop becomes pretty rubbish. Other issue with it is that it's really difficult to put USB cables / Pen drives into the ports, one of them I can't get anything in at all.

If the trackpad responds very poorly and you can't fit things into USB ports I wonder if the chassis is not quite assembled right?

Maybe, part of the problem with the touchpad though seems to just be that the material it's made of isn't good enough quality.

Sent it back, and PC Specialist have looked at it and said that this just how it's designed, rather than specific faults with the unit. I can't really see how that can be correct with the USB ports, I had a few people try to put pen drives etc in one of the ports, and no-one was confident trying to force one in without braking the pen drive or the port.

Re the touchpad, it's noticeably worse than any other laptop I've tried (compared it with lots of old and new laptops). I appreciate that lots of people use PC Specialist laptops for gaming with a mouse, but for anything that needs a bit of accuracy with the touchpad (powerpoint, GIS, Text/code editing), the Fusion III touchpad doesn't feel close to being good enough. Per PC Specialist, there is a deadzone in the top left of the touchpad as part of the design, but this really doesn't make a great deal of sense to me.
