RMA Graphics Card replacement.

I received my pc today after it being sent back to PCS for a RMA. The graphics card that I had originally was an AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT MERC 319. This has now been replaced with a AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT SWFT 319 which I’m not too happy about as it’s not very pleasing to the eye compared to my other graphics card, which had the name of the graphics in LEDs. The card they have put in is also £120 pound cheaper. I wasn’t contacted during the RMA by PCS to see if it would be okay to swap it out for a different model. When I contacted PCS about why the card wasn’t replaced the same card the technician said they are basically identical and they had no stock of the model I had originally. I know these cards both have the same specs but I also want it to look good in my PC which is why I originally went for the card.

Has anyone else experienced this? Am I able to get swapped out for the original graphics card I had?

If you look in the warranty section of the T&Cs they say will replace it with the same model/version (eg 6800XT in this case) of graphics card, but not always the same manufacturer, so yes this can happen

7.3 If you order a dedicated graphics card and the AIB (add-in-board) manufacturer name is not specified in the product description or on the final invoice, then you will receive a graphics card that meets the specification of the model/version stated. If the graphics card is exchanged under the warranty, then we will supply a graphics card that meets or exceeds the specification of the model/version stated. This model may be from a different AIB manufacturer and as a result the actual performance may be slightly higher or lower than the original model.

I know one time (about 5-6 years ago), I had to send a GPU back, it was a Palit 1070, they replaced it will a Zotac 1070, no idea which was actually the better card though, but it was still a 1070 :)

That's normal, if it's a standard random gpu that needs replacing it won't necessarily be the same model if they no longer have stocks

It's outlined in the warranty information:

I have looked at the T&Cs but got a bit confused with 7.2 that states “replaced with an item of an equal or better performance and equal or better value at the time a RMA is generated”

I thought that because it says ‘and’ it would have to fall into both categories of performance and value not just performance. Atleast, I have a working system now anyway :)
