RTX 3080 won't go past 60FPS

I have recently got an RTX 3080 with a Ryzen 5 5600X CPU and 32GB of ram and when I play games the FPS limits at 60fps.

Does anyone know a reason for this? I am currently playing at 1080p.

What the refresh rate of the monitor? and make and model?

Seeing a RTX 3080 being paired with a 1080p monitor, it's not doing any justice to that 3080, you monitor is going to bottleneck the card as it's way overkill and wasted money in my opinion.

A 3080 needs a 1440p ultrawide / superwide or a 4K 144hz monitor to make that card sing and to get your money's worth out of it.

Do you have Vsync turned on? That will limit the frames

It may also be a setting in the games being played, some have FPS limits (I know the one I play has an option to limit the FPS)

The monitor is a Sony Bravia TV, it's quite old and I'm not sure how to check the refresh rate, bought in 2013/2014 maybe.
