Personally I would hold out for the 3080.
I honestly don’t think it will be much more of a wait for you.
The waiting game is tough but you will eventually get your computer. You got this far, now is not the time to give up.

I will not give up!!!! I will persevere with my very very 1st world problems. I can do this for all those privaleged people out there.

I would wait, some people will jump ship to the AMD cards on the 18th so you may find things move quicker around then if you are still waiting.
I'm 30 days production time, been in build since the 13th October and I'm waiting on the strix 3080, will keep waiting until the 18th before making a call on whether to amend to a 6800xt.

will there not be a big que for the rx 6000 cards as well. Or do you think it will be alot better.

The speculation is that there will be more AMD cards available, but also much higher demand than there could have been (people who were always going to buy AMD will be joined by those preferring GTX 3000s but giving up on them), so it's likely to end up being exactly the same, so switching to an RX 6000 is probably only worth it if you're able to order within the first few minutes as it was the 3000 series launch.

I think initial stocks will go instantly as they always do, but fully expect AMD to replenish stocks much better than NVidia have done.

I don't 'really care' to be honest what card I get. 3080 would be nice. But pft. Not the biggest deal

So 3070 / 3080 AMD. I've ordered the 3080 (I mean, I ordered 15-Oct!). Should I have switched the moment the 3070 was released on the PCS website? Who knows. Unknown Unknowns. Part of me thinks. Just cancel and re order after Christmas......Least I won't be tempted to check the forum hahah

I think a lot will be down to TSMC having capacity, as fingers have been pointed at Samsung not having capacity in time for launch.

Some recent reports have mentioned Nvidia going back to TSMC to use their 5nm, as Samsung is having problems with 5nm.

If you've got the patience, saying "sod it" and cancelling until the new year is probably the way to go, with the bonus that you should have the better stock levels and potential new models (Super/Ti/whatever) to choose from.

I wouldn't switch to a different card than what you actually want just based on the wait time. You will be using it for the next 4-5 years before an upgrade (possibly longer if you're fine with tuning settings down in new titles released in 2025 or so), and compared to that time, 1-3 months or however long it takes to get it is just not really that much, despite feeling like ages now.

To be honest, given that I ordered my PC so long ago and I still don't have it, it doesn't even feel real (the number on my bank account is smaller, but eh), so it'll probably feel even better when I get it than it would have felt if I got it in September. It will be quite disappointing if I don't see it at Christmas, but there's still quite a while and maybe they'll slowly get enough cards to complete orders from the 17th.

I take 20th with a pinch of salt, I was told on launch day I was 11th in the queue and told the same by the same person 2 weeks later. Eventually I complained because they were telling they received 65 in first week at the end of first week. A long story short, the 65 evaporated, and they said that I shouldn’t have been told I was 11th and that the staff member got it wrong. On launch day I was told they actually only had 6 to sell.

Spoke to them today, they literally said they may not have any cards in stock till next year, as in , they have no clue at all, not even an eta on shipments. So i'd suggest holding your builds tbh

Its not PCS fault, this is all on Nvidia, to be honest its a bit of a joke that there is this massive backlog of orders Worldwide for 3080's yet they will have released a number of other GPU's after the 3080 which people are still waiting on since launch day.
Should have made more 3080's before making other things.
Its Pretty clear they have just chucked the 3080 out with low stock when they did knowing AMD were releasing their GPU's after, probably knew it was just as good so they thought lets get some money in before its too late. Then they will release the main GPU which will probably be the Ti versions. Bet there will be plenty of these.
I'm waiting on the strix 3080 but as each day passes I reckon I'm just going to switch to AMD, even if the 3080 comes into stock before the 18th.

I wonder if AMD will have good stock levels for their launch. For us 3080 folks I guess it's either going to be a swap to AMD gpu or hope that enough people cancel their 3080 to move you up the queue for that limited stock.

Have the automated emails stopped for anyone else?
I last got an email on the 30th stating my build was estimated for November 4th, I've since bought a card elsewhere so cancelled most of my order and confirmed via livechat everything is in stock on my current build.
I was expecting another automated email either today or on the 5th but haven't received anything.
