Ryzen 9 3900x configuration

I just ordered a Ryzen 9 3900x configuration and I'm SO excited and very looking forward to put my hands on it once it gets delivered!
It was just about time, since my current rig is now 7 years old (Intel I7 3770k with a GTX980)!

My main focus, other than software development, will be Flight simming with X-Plane 11.I do hope it will be able to give me good frame rates!

The main idea is to have the OS in the first SSD (yep, you read right, SSD, NOT the M.2 drive) and keep the M.2 drive ONLY for installing the Flight simulator, so to have the best possible loading times when loading scenery during gameplay.
What do you guys think? Will it be enough to give me good frame rates with X-Plane 11, especially when using demanding plugins like X-Enviro and the OrbX True Earth ones?

It's going to be about as good as it gets, that's for sure.

I would likely make a couple of changes though.....

PSU, I would recommend the RMx option. It's just a better all round PSU and this system deserves it.
Thermal Paste - Drop the Cooler Master stuff, the stock Corsair paste is brilliant and you will have less concern with a poor paste job.

Regarding your storage selection. Is it not possible to select a second M2 drive? I would personally look to have the OS on a 256gb/512gb M2 drive and your games on a second 2TB M2 drive.... rather than having the mutliples that you have.

You can make any changes up until the PC goes into building so I would recommend taking advantage of that situation :)

Hey @The_Scotster , thanks for the hints!

There seems to be no option for selecting a second M.2 drive (it's still unclear to me if the motherboard actually has 2 M.2 slots or not. I've read conflicting specs on it). I went through the configuration many times but I was able to specify only one M.2 drive, hence my choice.

For the thermal paste I just selected the more expensive one since I was under the impression that it was better than the stock one. I assume having the work done by PCSpecialist team means having an impeccable work performed, so I'm not concerned by "poor paste jobs". I totally trust this guys! :D

I'll have a look at the RMx option.. could you give me more info on it? I've no idea what RMx stands for...

I'm not at all convinced about putting the OS on a slower drive. You'll always want the OS on the fastest one.

Furthermore, the QVO drives aren't particularly fast by Sata SSD standards either. Another reason not to stick the OS on it.

The motherboard does have 2 M.2 slots, both capable of PCie 4.0 x4 speeds. Phone PCS and ask if they can do you a 2nd WD Black / 970 EVO. And if not, drop a QVO and buy your own. if you really are adamant about having the OS on a separate drive to the flight sim.

Also, faster RAM is now available.

I just amended my order: I decided to install the OS on the M.2 (downsized to 500GB; it's enough for hosting the main OS).
I'll use one of the SSD drives for X-Plane (I chose the best ones available in the list, the Seagate Barracuda).
The other SSD is needed for my Linux box.

I'm also glad to see that faster RAM is now available! I immediately chose it! (It's a pity that 32GB - 8x4 - seems to be the max available amount right now, but that's nitpicking!).

Could you elaborate on that a little please.
Two questions here: How do you know the stock paste is corsair branded?
and more importantly, why would there be a less concern about a poor paste job. Isn't it the same group of PCS employees that apply the paste every time? I'm ordering a build very soon too, that's why I was wondering and you seem to know your stuff.

As above, it's pre-applied and is very good paste. They changed it a number of years ago after complaints of it drying out.

My experience with the PCS paste jobs leave a lot to be desired. I can only comment based on my experience and comments of others over the years though. Maybe I was unlucky....... 3 times in a row.
