Same Problem after 2 RMA services

Yo guys, I've sent my system back twice now for an RMA, both times i have had the exact same problem occur and when i received it again this morning most of the issues are fixed, but I am still experiencing one problem that has persisted through both services.

After getting some damage to my case fixed and my GPU replaced twice to fix my issue and my desktop being extremely slow minutes after first booting my pc and having it crash, The only problem that has persisted is my GPU fans spinning up to max speed and my display going off (which used to happen 100% of the time I try and load into games on COD WW2 and a couple of times just randomly watching YouTube or sat on the desktop, however it only happens on COD now),

After 3 different cards doing the same thing at home but with no problems in testing at PCS i'm beginning to think that it could be an issue with how WW2 runs on the drivers or whatever because all of my previous problems are fixed but it still crashes and the fans still spin up while just sitting in lobbies or loading maps and I really don't wanna have to send my system back in a third time just to get the card replaced and have the same issue, when at this point it is most likely not a hardware fault especially since I have been needing it for Uni the past month and haven't had it.

Thanks for any help in advance :)

Personally I would aim for a completely new build in your shoes. You will always have that fear looming over you otherwise. It's a lot of money to not be 100% satisfied with. I know it's a pain but it's definitely the lesser of 2 evils for me.

Do you suggest just ringing up and asking for the same build just with all fresh parts, failing that I am just going to ask for a refund becuase £2000 is a lot of money to be dealing with all these problems especially when its the same problem 3 times over.

Also thank you for the fast reply

That kind of leaps out at me.

Did PCS know to look for the GPU fans spinning up when they had it for either of the two RMAs? If they didn't know to look it's unwise to assume it didn't happen - quite often technicians are focused only on the issue reported by the owner and they may not have the time to check everything else.

It's kind of important to know, because if the fans didn't spin up at PCS but they do at your home then you'd need to look at what's different about your home (power perhaps?). If PCS didn't know to look I'd request another RMA specifically for the fan issue.

It's really important when RMAing kit to let PCS know exactly what problem they should be looking for and exactly how to trigger the problem. If PCS can't reproduce a problem on their bench they can't fix it, nor can they fix problems they haven't been told to look for. :)

Both times I had told them exactly how to recreate the issue and exactly what was happening, they didn't attempt to open COD once which was causing the problem every single time I opened it and instead ran it on PUBG which i specifically mentioned it didn't crash on at all apart from one instance which then lead them to just swap the GPUs again when the second time I also mentioned that literally any part in the PC could be damaged because my case was damaged quite badly the first time it was delivered to me which is still the cause of the problem most likely, and for the second time all they did was replace the graphics card which was clearly not the issue unless they have given me 3 faulty GPUs in a row which I highly doubt I have bought a brand new monitor and cables also and still getting the same problem so there's nothing more I can see that I can do on my end to be honest and I really need this PC for my uni course so don't want to send it back for another RMA just for it to get returned with another GPU swap that wont fix the problem.

(If this is just certain games that do it and its nobody's fault then I may want to consider just getting a different card but I haven't found anyone else with these issues with the 2080 super on CoD or Rust that are as consistent as mine and I havent got the time to install other games at the moment to test however it doesn't occur on PUBG and no mans sky for what I have noticed.

Also they said they identified that both the previous GPUs were faulty so its not just happening at home but after they replaced the cards both times it was working and then the problem comes back at home.

Well there's your answer I think. :) You've clearly decided to send the whole thing back, that's probably wise.

Out of interest, if it was damaged when delivered to you, why did you accept it and not send the whole thing back then?

I'd be tempted to return for a refund and review my options too.

While that's pending, with COD, is this a fresh download or the same installation/files as before?

Have you tried verifying the integrity of the files (assuming the game client gives that options) or a fresh download?

Also, it would be worth trying Firestrike, which is free and not a very big download at all:

There's a stress test option I think that loops the benchmark quite a few times.

Some systems will be rock solid stable even on Firestrike but then throw errors in specific games (e.g. I had to reduce my CPU OC for AC:Origins, but torture tests were fine...). So it's not 100% guaranteed to expose problems. But it's worth trying it out.

Thank you for the reply, I have verified and re installed it a few times with no luck and it seems to work fine on everything else apart from a few occasions so yeah im not sure whats happening but think im going to go for a refund and go from there.

So:

It's not fine on COD

It's fine on everything else.. except a few occasions where it's not fine? That means it's not fine outside of COD either :(

I was wondering the same. Can you try the system anywhere else? e.g. a neighbour or nearby relative's house?
