Slow SSD

Hey,

Got my brand new PC today.
It's got a 1TB SSD and a 4TB SSD.
I only have the operating system, discord and twitch on the 1TB SSD, everything loads super fast.

I installed battle.net and steam onto the 4TB SSD. And every takes so long to load from it. When I moved the programmes to the 1TB it was super fast as I feel it should be.

Would anyone be able to help me with why my second SSD is horribly slow loading?

I would like to add that when I open steam, which loads slowly. And open a game from my steam library directly it loads instantly. But when I use a desktop icon to load anything it's horribly slow. Even just opening the steam application.

Is this a pcspecialist system? Can you post your full specs from the order system?

Drives are running great, exactly where you should expect them to be.

Can you be more specific about what the experience is that's running slow? I would install Battle.net and Steam onto the primary drive, but point their installation folders to the secondary drive.

Hey,
Yes I can. So anything that is installed on the 4tb takes minutes to load. I have just installed my browser on there for a test and it took so long to open. I am glad the drives are looking good though because I was worried it could be hardware.

You should really install any programs onto the c drive, not sure why you wouldn’t?

I honestly did not realise it would make a difference. The plan was to have all my games and Photoshop files on the larger 4tb SSD. Leaving the 1tb mostly clear for the operating system. What I will try and do next is to install steam onto the 1tb ssd and put all the game files on the other. I didn't realise steam could be installed separately from the games.

Similarly with photoshop, install the program to c, then point projects, cache and things to d/e drive etc.

If the OP is talking about minutes to load anything from the D: drive then something else is going on I think. If the suggestions above don't help then post back and I'll show you how to run the Performance Monitor to watch what's going on with that drive.

Might be worth looking at the 87 (hex) error entries on the D: drive. Probably nothing but there are zero on C:
