Spec for a PC to be used for sound recording / editing

Hi,

Any suggestions for the spec below very welcome. I'm looking for performance for sound recording / editing therefore ideally it should be silent running but with a fast processor. Am I missing anything? Or going overboard on anything here? Thanks!

you'd want more and much faster RAM in there, maybe 2x m.2 drives instead of m.2 + SSD. And for the 5900X you'd ideally want the ASUS® ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING motherboard. What software are you planning to use?

May I ask what is your thinking behind the HDD and 2 x M.2 SSD drives?

The HDD is purely optional. That’s what I’d personally use as long term storage for finished projects.

The first 500GB M.2 would be the boot drive for your OS and programs. The second would be where the majority of your files and work would live.

The bonus of having the two separate drives is that if anything happens that means you need to do a full reinstall of Windows, it’ll just be the OS drive that gets wiped. Any projects that you’re working on will be safely housed on the other one 👍
