It’s horrible that art gets lost to stuff like that, isn’t it? One of my ex girlfriends was from the Sudan. Her dad told me about some of the frightening stuff that has happened there and he has potentially the only remaining copies of protest music that was released before full on civil war happened.
Jesus, I hope he leaves those to someone trustworthy, he should give VMP a call, they're really becoming synonymous with restoring records like that for a repress (without damaging the original records).

That’s welcome news but somewhat out of left field, I thought they were all dead!
Yeah, I don't think it's the original members, no idea what it's like, but it's good to see the movement surviving the holocaust out there. Hopefully it causes a resurgence

Urm, there are still a few on order I’d forgotten about.

This is a recent 2022 25th anniversary box of Biggie Smalls second album, Life After Death. It’s by Rhino who have been increasingly putting out really high quality stuff, so I know it’s gonna be good.

It’s the original album, a remix album of remixes done but previously not on vinyl and 3 singles and a really nice booklet. It’s a pretty special set and been on my wishlist since it was released last June. Really looking forward to this

Yeah, it’s really well done, they’ve put a lot of thought into it, which is great cos Biggie really is one of the godfathers that should get recognition for those that came after.
Absolutely, well said there. Ready to Die really broke the mould for me. That album had the all the hoes, the drugs and the violence that his contemporaries were also rapping about but it wasn’t quite as glorified. He made it autobiographical and had a sense of the difficulties and consequences of that lifestyle, even hinting at shame and regret. A rare talent.

Such a shame he was despatched, I kind of rate Tu-Pac in the same vein, he started out quite gangsta stylee, but he definitely softened and became far more balanced in his mid career.

I just love the lyrics on some of the classic hip-hop masters though, it's shakespeare in a modern guise, they guys are just absolute geniuses.

We’ve discussed Jurassic 5 many a time, they’ll always be the apex wordsmiths for me. Inventive, incredibly funny and they pass the phrasing on like the world’s most fun game of hot potato.

Bought this one, I absolutely adore "Harder Than You Think", it's one of the all time great tunes imho.

It was on their "How You Sell Soul to a Soulless People Who Sold Their Soul?" album in 2007 but that was never pressed on vinyl. They have issued it as a single on a couple of picture disks, and one or two black vinyl, but no one anywhere is selling it, it's incredibly rare to find a copy.

So they released this compilation of their greatest hits in 2013 for Record Store Day on both picture disk and black vinyl, but again, black vinyl copies are rare as anything.

I'm not a picture disk fan, but I've been waiting for a copy of the single to come up for sale for many years now and no luck.

So I've plumped for a picture disk of this, and also have a copy of a live album they did in 2015 which has the track on it too.

Public Enemy - Planet Earth 2013 Record Store Day picture disk.

Another Public Enemy, this one's a live album from 2015, just got incredibly lucky and snagged the last copy from Amazon.

This has live versions done in Metropolis Studios, it's a pretty huge double album, and also has a version of "Harder Than You Think" on there. But it's a lovely set to have anyway

Jesus man, what a collaboration! How cool of Ed to share the limelight on his own gig, that's pretty cool. But if you make out the guitar work on both the tracks on the first video, Ed is adding so much depth to both those tunes, he should do a remix version with Eminem, that would be awesome.

But whenever I hear Stan, there's something about that track, the lyrics are just word perfect, the way he times it with the breaks, a lot of the timing is totally off flow yet still terminated perfectly at the end of each bar, it's mind boggling. Apparently he literally wrote it in 15 minutes, just all the way through in one hit. And this is the actual notes he wrote for the song

These are all Afterlife EPs, the Afterlife records are not directly distrubuted to the UK, there are some places that get some 3rd hand, but obviously you pay more, and they're in high demand also so it's easy for prices to ramp up as well as sell out remarkably quickly. These are all direct from Decks.de based in Germany who are an official stockist and absolutely stellar service to boot and only 10Euros delivery via courier. Afterlife themselves will only ship to EU countries.

Top to bottom, left to right

Mrak – One EP

Anna – Journey To The Underworld EP

Denis Horvat - Cha Cha EP

Kevin De Vries - Dance With Me EP
