This is a really cool one that's faced a lot of set backs.

Originally pre ordered december last year and was due for release in June I think, then they had issues from start to finish, even this copy the labels are wrong on one of the records which is why it's got the label stickers

But it's finally here, Transa - Resurrected Volume 1

I've not heard any Christine and the Queens as yet, then this track has been playing massively on adverts recently and it's absolutely superb, so bought this album which is the 3 disc version, will definitely be checking out their other stuff

You must have heard 'Tilted', it was in the charts about 10 years ago...and she even appeared on Jools Holland (and other shows) a few times. 'Girlfriend' and 'Five Dollars' were others I remember being in the UK charts, but a few years later.

In fact I bet you've got all her albums somewhere, but just can't find them anymore ;)

Ah, I’ve heard Girlfriend out of those but none of the others.

I don’t really watch mainstream TV or listen to radio anymore so I rarely come across the generally played stuff.

Most of the stuff I listen to is either old school charts from 70s to 00s or more underground stuff

Ben Bohmers new album - Bloom, whitelabel
I don't normally buy white labels or test pressings as they're usually hugely inflated prices over the standard album, a lot of people will seek them out as they're done on the first stamper which some people will swear blind leads to better sound quality, I'm not really one of them.

This one though was only £2 more than the standard album, and personally signed and numbered too, quite a nice touch. Was limited to 500 copies.

This is an incredibly important one for me, this is Fred Again's Tiny Desk vinyl, they only did 3000 copies and these sold out within minutes end of last december, most of them picked up by flippers who immediately listed them on eBay for £350

This was a UK seller who had the price extremely reasonable really, far under what the general price was, and he'd put in the description it was a priceless item so he knew what he had, obviously just a respectable guy.

It's signed and numbered on the front cover too, real piece of history for a Fred collector.

Ok, little follow up here.

The one in the top left is a hugely sought after single that a UK classic trance duo remastered and reissued in 2021, originally released in 1999. They never say how many copies they make, but it's definitely not many, they sold out instantly back then and have been hard to come by at a reasonable price on the second hand market.

This one I picked up was listed as unplayed, it all looks really good, definitely a brand new official cover which can clearly be seen and still in the originally supplied high durability PVC outersleeve.

BUT, I took out the record and this is how it looks, the original record was just standard black vinyl and with a proper label:

20241003_215916245_iOS.jpg

So coloured vinyl, whitelabel, and the runouts (which are manufacturer markings on the inner ring to denote who cut it and where along with catalogue numbers) are set as TR-VI-001 A 1 090915 -A-1 1 24M #TRANSARESURRECTED

I contacted the label and they confirmed this isn't a legitimate copy, so I've contacted the seller and asked what's going on, if this is a fake, then I'll pass on his details to the label.

BUT, the runouts are all identical except the original has 090910 instead of 090915, and the quality of this suggests that it's been done by an quite a high tier pressing plant, not somewhere a bootlegger would pay through the nose for

What I suspect may have happened here is that the actual pressing plant that Transa used span off a couple more than they were licensed to, either for their own collections, or to sneakily sell. The quality of this is just far too high, and I've never seen a bootleg record with runouts, especially not runouts so neatly done as this with proper identifiers. The real copies were only pressed on normal black vinyl, it's possible the reason this is dual coloured in this way is that the press was switching from black pellets to red for the next batch of records on the next job, and they pressed this to clear out the old black pellets.

I haven't even played it as I don't want the seller to have any cause to make this my problem. What would normally happen on a bootleg is that they'd take a digital file like an mp3 (these days probably a WAV) and then cut that, but with vinyl productions, even for digital music, they will do a special vinyl mastering which presents far better when cut to wax and the label confirmed those master files were never made public. Problem with pressing a standard digital file is that once it's pressed, it comes across quite flat and cold.

I'm sorely tempted to play it as the sound quality will instantly tell if this is from the actual plant or a bootleg. If it was from the actual plant, I'd really love to keep it as this is 100% one of a kind.

Couple through today.

Diana Krall - All For You, sultry jazz / blues, beautiful voice, I head a couple of her tracks on a compilation and thought I'd give her a try.

One I've been after for a long time, Louis Armstrong - Satchmo Plays King Oliver, the Analogue Productions copy. I know he's old school, but the more I discover of Louis work, the more I think he was not of this world. I have no idea what he was like in real life, but his music is so bright and positive, I wish I could have met him. His work with Ella Fitzgerald I think everyone should be exposed to, those 2 were a match made in heaven.

And then the piece de resistance, The Thrillseekers - Reconnected Anthems Volume III, this whole series is absolutely incredible.

This is a pretty cool one, just for one track I wanted this for, they released a few pressings from 1977 to 1978 and then 2 in 1987 and then none since, so there aren't a lot of these on the market.

This one is a Canadian first press, cover is pretty worn, but the vinyl is very nearly NM.

I have no idea why this isn't more sought after, because I think this track is killer.

I love the fact the guy 2nd from the right genuinely looks like Corey Feldman in dress up, obviously having travelled back through time.

That track seems familiar, but I can't find it in my library (although have got the Eddie Grant track of the same name). Thought it might have been on one of the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtracks.

This is a cool one.

This is the new The Death Of Slim Shady, but this is the alternative cover and 2 disk "blood splatter vinyl". They didn't allude to how many they made of these but they were only available direct from Eminems own webstore, and they sold out crazy fast.

They announced the listing in the US, and because it's Eminem who is very popular, and because I had a suspicion just how great this album would be), I just leapt on it within 5 minutes of receiving the order and ordered from the US. They did a few days later list some of these for sale on the UK site.

It's not a particularly unusual record, but given it's Eminem and of such a seminal album and I don't think there are that many of them, I think it's pretty collectable.

I've held of listening to the album until the vinyl came through, so this will be awesome for the weekend, might have a Slim Shady marathon!

Such a classic, includes the original mix and PVD's new rework of it from 2009

Paul van Dyk - For An Angel 30th Anniversary Limited Edition, 8 mixes on 2 disks.

Originally released in 1994, it was his first track and is one of the all time trance anthems, still getting regular remixes

40 somethings may appreciate this.

Deep Forest - Deep Forest, released in 1993 and never repressed. The music is definitely dated now, but only slightly, but this album opened up my eyes to tribal dance music and holds a really special place in my memories.

I've had it on my wishlist for YEARS, there were rumours they were finally reissuing some albums last year, but only turned out to be the second and third albums which I did pick up. But this was always the one I really wanted.

Edit: Just checked and it's not been reissued on CD since 1998, I do wonder if it may have been deleted for some reason! Makes me feel extra lucky!

The record itself doesn't look like it's ever been played, the cover was graded at VG+ but I would say it's more of a NM, so all in all, got extremely lucky.
