SSD Speeds?

Hi all,

Have recently purchased and installed a Corsair 120GB Force 3 SSD. I have the operating system installed directly onto it, with Steam installed on my old HDD and i transfer games im currently playing across to the SSD.

Windows boots very quickly (about 2 seconds after finishing boot screens etc) and loads any programs/apps instantly as soon as the desktop is displayed.

The reason for this post is that i have ran a disk speed benchmark (Crystal Mark Disk) and received this result:

Personally i was quite disappointed with this, 212Mb max read and 100Mb max write, when a max speed of 550MB/s, Write = 510MB/s is given with the SSD.

Is there a possibility that i have installed it incorrectly/wrong firmware/incorrect drivers, or could have ordered the booting incorrectly as I did it my self and am pretty inexperienced with SSD's.

Any help will be appreciated,

Simon.

Yes it is. Sorry i didn't provide that information i was just about to add it in when you replied. Is that a speed that would not indicate it is plugged into a SATA 6 port?

it could do, but I'm not certain. But for an ssd with speeds that fast it defo would need to be in a sata 6 port. So that's the first thing i'd check, before we look at upgrading the firmware.

i'll have a bit of a look see on the net about a solution/issue :)

edit - have a little read of this corsair forum, may have some useful information, clicky

Ok after reading through quite a lot of the Corsair thread you posted (Yellowbeard seems like a good man!) I have determined that i am on firmware version 1.3.3 which is the latest version for this SSD.

Below is a screen shot of my Bios showing the boot order, if that could be anything to do with the issue?

It may be worth posting on the corsair forums, I posted many times of the ocz forums and they always sorted me out.

Ok so i went on the forums and other users have had similar issues, so i followed the advice given, and it turns out Crystal Mark doesnt work very well with the SSD im using, so i tried to reccomended one and gained the following results :

Now this seems almost too good, lol.
