Start-up Problems

Intermittent starting problem.
after putting in the PIN for my account I get the circle of dots which just keeps on going and eventually the screen goes blank. If I press the button on the keyboard to put it into sleep mode and then restart from there it sometimes works but not always.. It takes several attempts doing this sort of thing before I finally get a working screen. Once I get to that point things seem to get back to normal.
It started with a mouse problem freezing the screen; although I could move the arrow around it had no effect when pressing either button. That problem now seems to have disappeared. There has been a recent Windows update and after the problems with the mouse I reset the computer , reloading Windows 10 and repeating the updates. Any ideas?

When you 'reloaded Windows' how did you do that? Did you use the built-in Windows reset feature or did you do a clean install from downloaded media?

That's not the best way to reinstall, especially when you're having problems. You'd be better off downloading a new copy of Windows 10 to a USB drive, booting that drive and install Windows from there. Note that this will erase your entire system drive. Once Windows is installed allow Windows Update to find and install all drivers. See whether that sorts your problem.

Try performing a full shutdown - hold down the left shift key and then click on Shutdown. Then power on your PC, logon and then reboot normally and see if that helps.
