Symbols on Touchpad

Hi Guys
Very new to PCS and just received my Ionico 17" and am feeling my way around it.
Have loaded most of my software on with no probs.
What is annoying me are the printed symbols n the touchpad - one would assume for touchpad lighting but I can't make anything happen at all.

Also the Function keys bare little resemblance to what is stated in the little handbook.
Any info gratefully received

You're supposed to peel it off, buddy. It's just a film on top of the touchpad to protect it (and of course to show you how to use it).

I understand it gets peeled off but Icouldn't get the controls to actually do anything.
Realise now that a double tap in top left corner turns on a tiny led and locks the touchpad and vice versa.
Perhaps it didn't work 'cos I hadn't unpeeled it. Doh!
