Hi all, as per the title I am looking at a new build.

I have put this together and was wondering what you guys think, any recommendations etc.

I am a PC Gamer playing games from COD to DCS in 1440p. On the side I do a little bit of video editing for an upcoming YouTube channel.. ( Idiots afloat - Boat ownership and sea fishing channel )

What is your budget for this system (its probably a moot question as you've clearly got a high budget!)?

If you're spending so much , I'd strongly consider the Platinum warranty. But at the very least I'd go with Silver just for peace of mind, obviously its up to you though .

I wouldn't think you'll need the thermal paste, the paste pre-applied to the AIOs is of excellent quality.

Hi steaky, no real budget, but If I can keep within the £4k mark I would consider that a result.

I've always wondered about the AIO paste. I watch a lot of Youtubers build PCs and when they install the cooler they always wipe the paste off... I could never understand that as it looks well applied and I wouldn't expect companies like Corsair to use rubbish.

That's a good point about the warranty.. Ill seriously consider it.

I have to say I think you're overspending here. You just won't be getting value for money by spending £4K. For your purposes, the 3080 and up are just overkill: pointless for 1440p gaming and only incrementally better than the 3070 cards for video editing. If pricing was sensible, splashing out might be a reasonable thing to do, but with the way pricing is now, it's just not a good plan. And there are other places where I think you can easily save as well.

So here's the most I could in good conscience recommend:

Quite similar to the above but I would personally go for a couple of changes:

CORSAIR iCUE 5000X RGB MID TOWER GAMING CASE - Nicer case if you want the shiny, less money too. If you aren't fussed on the RGB then Meshify 2 would be my choice.

You can get it cheaper off the shelf if you were willing though. Giving the savings to the original spec it's probably a win regardless.

500GB SEAGATE FIRECUDA 530 GEN 4 PCIe NVMe (up to 7000MB/R, 3000MB/W) - I always recommend keeping the primary tighter. Forces good habits with storage and stops the primary from being cluttered. If you have any issues with Windows, a reinstall is a breeze as everything is kept elsewhere (games etc).

2TB SEAGATE FIRECUDA 530 GEN 4 PCIe NVMe (up to 7300MB/R, 6900MB/W) - Contrary to the above, when the budget is there I would opt for the faster drive. Direct storage will be a big thing for this gen and next gen GPUs. Better to have a really fast game drive when the money is there for it. Will also make a fantastic scratch disk for the video editing, faster the better.
