And RMe doesn't have Japanese capacitors, which are supposed to be the best. So essentially it's a slightly cheaper model than the RMX
But it's the only PSU available, at the moment, which would have any overhead for my build. 😞

After a quick look at them both on the Corsair sites, they're the same price. You get a penny change from £130.
RMx has "Japanese transistors", RMe has "Industrial standard transistors", so not Japanese then.
All smoke and mirrors, as salesmen usually are.
It's lucky for folk like me, with only a bit of a clue, that there's a forum with knowledgable folk like you all are.
I'm not trying to butter you up, it's the widespread knowledge of the group rather than one individual. But then it's, "the sum of the parts being greater", can't remember the rest of it, but you know what I mean.
And my "bit of a clue" is expanding, slowly :D

My case will now be a Thermaltake Core X71, a monster of a case.
Can't say I'm a fan of how that looks personally, it's got space for 5.25" drives even!. Make sure you're 100% happy with this, or you'll be looking at it for next few years and hating it, or having to fork out for a replacement case and moving all the components across.

I'm sure it's a good case but it's clearly very dated. I also think it's ugly as sin but that's just my preferences.

Anything that still supports 5.25" drives the way it does tells me it's a very old design though

EDIT: Just seen the 5000D airflow is available for the same price, this is a good option. It's a little on the expensive side for wat you get to be honest, the 5000X being usually £150 but comes with a Corsair Commandor and 4 fans vs the two fans and no commander for less than £20 difference. That's about £70-£80 of value for £20 that you miss out on. Still I'd rather have it over the X71

And it's HUGE.
I'd like a Lian Li 011D Evo, but the extra................
Lets have another think on this.

That monster case is a much more expensive delivery charge. By £41, thats for cheaper PSU, more expensive case and delivery.
Cheaper PSU and dearer case almost balanced out, so most of the extra cost is the delivery charge.
That Lian Li case is smaller, barely bigger than my out of stock choice. 12mm taller, 55mm wider, 3mm deeper.
The monster case is £134, the Lian Li is £170. 134 + 40 is £174. So the Lian Li case is actually cheaper
As long as it's still not over size, so automatically in the extra delivery bracket.

And it's done 😆
I've changed the configurator to - Send in my own case.
And the case is a Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO, in Gun Metal.
Ordered from (whispering from behind a hiding hand, "CCL", at £150).
Delivering to PCS tomorrow, so no appreciable delays either.

I did a quick search online, cos £170 was on Amazon.
Most of the other sellers didn't have it in stock, those that did were the same as Amazon, or more.
So I phoned PCS's competitor, just round the corner. They would send it, no problem.
I then checked with PCS, that they'd be happy building into that case.
And delivery charges are back down to standard too 😁

And I don't think I'm even that much over budget :D

I'm even more over budget than I was on Friday. But it's only money, ya can't take it with you :D
It's an amazing case, I have an early version of it, the PC-O9WX

Incredible cases, Lian Li are streets ahead of most IMHO

Well to be honest, it was your enthusiasm for it that kind of pushed me that way 😀
With @Steveyg and @IRLRobinS pointing out my choice left much to be desired, on the aesthetics front just for starters.
So I did that bit of a think (essentially my thought processes, up there), and there we have it 😆

Here's The Old Beast, for a before and after contrast.
That desk came from Argos, I forget how many years ago, but in the 90s. The next year, this design wasn't in their catalogue. I think I'm going to have to replace it. The New Beast will need a decent airflow under it, and the door stop/possibly useful one day store/boot box will have to go too. And The New Beast won't fit in the cubby intended for computers when I got the desk.

P.S. Don't let @AgentCooper see this, he'll need emergency resuscitation 😜

Well it's here, unpacked, evga Nvidia 2070 Super installed, monitor set up, plugs all in. I think that's it. Switched on at the wall, switched on at the back. Press the power button, wow RGB 😁
Look at the monitor, aha switch that on too 🙄
Yup, little white led, Gigabyte logo, DP input ?
Screen goes black.
Then - please power down and connect the PCIe power cable for all graphics cards.
I did that ages ago. 1 x 6 pin PCIe plug inserted into 6 pin socket on graphics card. There's also an 8 pin socket right beside it. And a 2 pin plug, but that doesn't fit anywhere. The other end of that 2 + 6 pin PCIe, an 8 pin plug, appears to be plugged into the PSU. What have I missed?

So two connectors on GPU? You need to connect two power cables to it in that case. PCS might have only wired one back to PSU, not knowing what GPU you were installing.

You can also connect monitor to the motherboard as your ryzen 7000 has on board graphics, so that can help troubleshoot

Yeah you have to power all those sockets on the GPU mate the cable should be in the back of the system in the cable nest or in the box that came with it

Aaah !

I'll have a look in the back again, but I don't think there's an 8 pin plug in there. I had a look earlier, in case the PCIe cable left out in the front wasn't plugged into the PSU. As far as I can see, it is. There doesn't appear to be a spare 8 pin port on the PSU either, a couple of 6 pin ports.

When you tell them you have your own GPU, they ask which GPU you have, for compatibility and testing reasons

I phoned PCS earlier, at just before 5pm, asked for tech help. Explained that I had a GPU with a 6 pin and 8 pin power sockets. But only a 6 pin plug PCIe cable with another 2 pin plug on the same cable. Told plug in 6 pin, leave 2 pin loose. That will be all you need to do.

Bad advice I think, generally if the GPU has more than one power slot, it has a higher power demand. The PCIe motherboard slot can give max 75W, 6pin gives 75W and 8pin 150W. So if your GPU has a power draw greater than 150W, you're going to need that 8pin cable. The existing installed cable is probably a 6+2pin one, so you can connect the 6pin part and leave the 2pin dangling (or zip tie it back on itself to the cable).

EDIT: PSU should have 3 PCIe power connectors if images online are accurate. Any cables not installed by PCS should be in the welcome box.
