The New Outlook app that replaces windows mail and calendar

Ok, so this new Outlook is essentially much the same as the Microsoft365 Outlook app, it's more of a web app and integrates a lot of the smaller Microsoft suite tools.

BUT, be aware, if you're adding any non Microsoft email account, when you add them you're signing up to sync all your emails and contacts to the Microsoft Cloud and there's no way to say no and continue using the app on device only without cloud integration.

Now, I could well be wrong, but I don't think this is actually legal. Certainly by GDPR laws, they have to give the user an option to disable collection at the outset.

Microsoft seem to be fully ignoring any user privacy over the last year or so, with this whole AI push, they've found an excuse to abruptly harvest any data they can without giving the user any say so.

I fully expect we'll be seeing some federal lawsuits from the US, EU will likely step in, and I think the UK will too.

They're becoming much like Google. I'm actually in the process of divesting all my Microsoft services, with the release of 24H2 it's clear which way they're heading.

I wouldn't even have a personal Microsoft account if it wasn't for Xbox / PC Gamepass gaming and my shared Microsoft Office apps, but I don't use Outlook for personal email, and my PC uses a local account not logged into MS.

I've only tried it a few times at work and I don't like it currently, there are a few QOL things I would like implemented before I try and get too far into it (really basic stuff that doesn't really affect anything but .. its how I like things). Most of the issues I have with it from a user POV seem to be in the roadmap for updating so I'll sit tight until I'm either forced to use it by the company or it gets added.

As for any data sharing issues/concerns, not really something I know about so won't comment.

I gave them my Hotmail account from 1998 and my blueyonder account from 1999. They are more than welcome to all that dross on their servers.

There are a few groups that target chains like this. They create accounts, it doesn't take that many in the grand scheme of things..... and just accept every cookie, tracker, subscription on the most deplorable sites on the planet. You can imagine the carnage :ROFLMAO:

I would never do such a thing though or know anything about any such thing. Wait.... who said that
