Thoughts on my build..?

So it had been a very long time since I last had a desktop PC. (Not having a disc drive was extremely alien to me) lol. I have a little knowledge of computers. I actually did an Intermediate GNVQ in ICT back in my college days. Long time ago though and way out of date. So when I built my system I didn't really know what I was doing. Just asked the advice of a friend and did a little research myself. So far I have been very pleased with it and for what we use it for it seems just fine. I am loving "finally" being able to play my old command & conquer games again. My god I missed those. Also got myself Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and that's probably about as hard as my machine has to work. All the rest of web browsing and youtube videos with the occasional document type up. It's mostly my son who uses it. But I just wanted to post the spec here to get some feedback really. Hopefully I won't get questions like "Why on earth did you choose that..?" Or "Strange choice on that item". Or "Oh dear those don't go together too well" lol. But of course the big advantage with desktop is how upgradable they are should we need to change anything in the future. I just hope the critical parts I made good choices.

Anyway would really appreciate feedback. Good or bad. I was working to a bit of a budget too.
Wish I hadn't bothered with the wireless card now though as our WiFi is crap. lol. I've got it hard wired in now.

Command & Conquer...now were talkin! I still have C&C generals on my old laptop which i play occasionally. classic game!

Anyway i'm no expert but nice build, only thing id suggest is upgrading your power supply at some point to a 550w (minimum) gold.

Enjoy your PC.

I did originally select a 550w Power Supply. Or think I actually chose a higher one than that. But when I went to complete the build it automatically popped up suggesting that based on my spec I didn't require a PSU that powerful and suggested the one I chose so I went with that to save a bit of money.

If it does what you need it to do then that’s fantastic!

However, I do feel that you would have definitely have got some benefit of you’d asked for some advice before making the purchase. Mainly for the sake of any future upgrades that you might want/need to make.

But if you’re happy with it, that’s all that really matters. 🙂👍

I have to be honest with you and say that it's really not a good selection of components with any sort of future upgrading in mind. I would break it down but there is little point now that you have the system already. We always emphasise how important it is to ask for advise before making a purchase. Of course PCs can be upgraded but when all you're left with is the case and storage you are describing the very definition triggers brush.

If it does what you wish, at least for now, then that is the main thing :)

Unfortunately not all desktops can be fully upgraded, the current range of Intel CPUs are potentially a dead end with new model released early next year. It’s likely similar to what I had with my 2500k cpu and having to stick with it until it died, as was no real upgrade path.

Ok thank you for your responses and honesty everyone. And yes I do wish I had jumped on here and got advise first now but at the end of the day I am happy with it and sure I will be for many years to come. I'm not a hard core gamer. Don't need mega power or performance. This is still by far the best PC I have ever owned.
I know it's too late now but my main reason for this post was just in case there was anything glaring obvious that stood out as odd which people would suggest I change right away if possible. Obviously processor is not an option now I accept that. Was not aware it won't be supported much longer but at least Intel are reliable so should continue plodding on by itself for years to come anyway.
Thanks again
