thoughts on these specs ? I want the best gaming experience possible

This will be my first build and I want the best experience possible for gaming. There isn't a budget. I have picked the intel i9-10900k only to start reading about AMD is now better than intel. I want to use this pc for gaming, watching movies, doing work, multi tasking and so on. I've read AMD Ryzen is better value for money but based on these specs have I opted for the best ? should i wait ? I've read AMD is coming out with new CPUs this month.

any advice would be appreciated.

Yep, if budget isn't an issue and you're prepared to wait the new AMD CPUs are shaping up to be pretty impressive. Do you have a have a monitor or is that something you'll be looking for as well?

I haven't figured out the monitor yet. I have been looking but haven't found the one I happy with yet. I want one with 4k and 144hz would be fine as I will be playing more single player games than competitive.

Then this is the one you'll probably want...

yea this was one of the monitors i was thinking about or the

I have read on these forums how everyone should go with AMD and not intel. Since I have picked Intel I am worried that I will be making a mistake. the research i have done says the i9-10900k is best for gaming.

Intel is only better at high refresh 1080p gaming, the competitive stuff where you drop your settings as low as possible. AMD trounces it at every other level. SpyderTracks put together a nice little thread about it, well worth having a read...

I think that's really a personal choice, I myself would go for a superwide but that's because of the types of games I play. I love a bit of Euro Truck and the wide screen makes it very immersive. And Red Dead Redemption 2 looks stunning!

I know there isnt a budget cap on this build, but isnt the RTX 3080 a better card for gaming? Might've got my wires crossed (again) but I thought the 3090 was more for professional work?

It's your money bud, but you really wont see the difference between the two cards maybe 10% max you need to be driving top end monitors to notice.. They are both premier league tbh,
Purely benchmark-wise, I believe the 3090 is the absolute best out there for gaming, but it's literally single percentage figure increases over the 3080 and at a much MUCH higher cost. I'm not sure it's worth it either Grumpywurzel.

The difference between the 3080 and the 3090 is minimal in relation to hardware and the cuda cores and tensor cores, where the money is being spent is really the VRAM, and that extra VRAM will have almost zero impact for gaming at anything under 8K.

It's not really a gaming card, it's for enthusiast rendering and scientific workflows where GPU acceleration is used.

As people have said, you may get an extra roughly 5fps for almost DOUBLE the cost of a 3080, it’s just not worth it at all.
