Hi there, before we give any advice, would you be able to provide us with your budget and monitor info (make and model or resolution and refresh rate). Also what games do you plan to play?

GTA/FiveM, Rocket League, Minecraft at 144Hz and a budget of around £1900-2000.
Just wondering how you guys think this would perform for these purposes and if any changes should be made.

Hi, I've made some significant changed to your build. I'm guessing if you're going with a 5800X and a 3070 you're aiming at 1440p 240hz so this is what I would go for.

I changed the motherboard to something that suits the CPU better, Ryzen CPU also require fast ram. Minimum I would recommend is 3200Mhz

I've changed the storage to something that's just a better set up.

Increased the PSU for a minimal cost increase to help give you more longevity.

Changed the CPU cooler to something more suited and finally added the silver warranty, it's only a fiver and worth it

What Bigfoot said and is this a monitor you already own, or is it one that needs to come out of the bugdet/ are you looking at getting a new monitor?

It's 1080p.
For 1080p, the 3070 is big overkill. A 3060 is a top of the line 1080p 144hz card. For your budget this is what I'd go for

For a Ryzen 7, you'll want an X570 board, the TUF is a good pairing for the 5800X. AMD loves fast RAM so I've gone for a 3600mhz kit, that will help a lot for your video editing and streaming. For storage, I've managed to upgrade you to a 500GB Gen 4 SSD for Windows and your programs then a 1TB SSD for your games then the 2TB HDD for your general files. The Corsair RMx850W is a solid PSU we recommend to basically everyone, it'll allow you to upgrade for years to come and likely outlive the rest of your system. You'll want an uprated cooler for the 5800X so I've gone for a top of the line Capellix H115I AIO. I've removed the anti-virus as it's known to cause issues and the Silver warranty is well worth the £5.

Hey, say I wanted to go with a 125W TPD air-based CPU cooler, would this work well with a Ryzen 7 5800X?
If not, would a 180W TPD be fine?

I would not do the 125W air cooler with the 5800X, no. You definitely want something with more cooling capacity. I think the minimum cooler any of us would recommend for the 5800X would be the Cooler Master 240 one, and even then I'd prefer something beefier.

Thank you for the recommendation. I have decided to go with the "Corsair H100x Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler (250W TDP)" although I've been rather hesitant on liquid cooling in the past out of fear of it leaking, I'm willing to give it a shot. Thanks again!

That is not a cooler you want to take, its a older model and the performance is nothing like as good as the H100i Capellix

Is it really necessary for me to upgrade that far? I'm working on a budget so I just need to know if the H100x will do the job? What are the advantages/disadvantages of me using either of the two?

If you are taking a 5800X, yes.
A H100x Hydro is an old model, more likely to have problems and no where near as good as the H100i Capillex, if they still had H100i Platinums i'd suggest that.

What I think you get is better fans, better control, and better lighting, and possibly a better pump. As I understand it, the architecture of the radiator is the same. What this probably results in is similar cooling ability but the H100i will be quieter.

Personally I think the H100x would be sufficient, but in a build that has a lot of top-line hardware in it, it feels an unfortunate choice to put a slightly outdated cooler in.

The H100x is a very old unit now and has a greatly inferior pump that is significantly louder as well as not cooling as well. For the tiny increase in price for the capellix which is brand new, there's no question which is the better buy.

Thanks once again for the advice everyone, I have upgraded again to the Corsair H150i ELITE CAPELLIX RGB Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler.

Capellix fans take in something like 80% more air also, so although the radiator may be the same, there is a significant amount more air moving over it and therefore cooling the liquid inside.
