Have mushrooms most mornings, in fact the cumberland sausages i have for breakfast are made from mushrooms.

My eldest daughter always used to amuse me when she was younger, she didn't like mushrooms, however her favourite stuffed past was filled with....................mushrooms :ROFLMAO:

Love mushrooms and use them in a load of dishes.

Porcini Mushrooms are fantastic. The dried ones give you a great stock to work with after they have been soaked. Just remember the muslin to strain it, grit is not so nice in a risotto.

I listened to an ace podcast on fungi the other day. A scientist who works in the field (pun unavoidable) bought a packet of dried porcini mushrooms in a London supermarket and DNA tested 15 pieces. He found 3 species unknown to science. Given the effect some dried mushrooms can have, I'd advise caution with the dosing!

Hmmmm, our good friend @Stephen M has recently mentioned that it might be nice to have a food and drink area of the forum, do you think overlord @moosEh might be willing to create a sub-forum? Sounds like there’s enough interest to make it worthwhile. I’d be a regular contributor, love me some food chat 😁

Cannot confirm or deny if there is a new forum for this type of organic based substance

Although for most of us tech enthusiasts, Chinese New Year only means a delay in component production, it’s also a good excuse to have some good Chinese food and we had a nice Hot Pot a couple of weeks ago.
A very social affair, with a big bowl of boiling stock in the middle you cook your own food, which can be a selection of meat, fish, veg and in our case homemade Wonton dumplings. At the end the stock becomes excellent soup and is normally served with noodles, although we weren’t quite able to have room for noodles after the amount of food we had prepared!

I had a fantastic introduction to real Chinese food many years ago. My uncle was an engineer in the Merchant Navy and he came back with his new wife. Had an amazing meal cooked by my aunt Ying.

I’ve only experienced true Chinese cooking once and absolutely loved it, cooked by a friends Chinese wife, and my god could she cook!

Another of my favourite food sites: https://germandeli.co.uk/

Unfortunately they, like many others, are having delivery problems but they have a load of great food.

Definitely recommend the Käsekrainer, one of my favourite Wurst.
Stephen, as you seem to be well versed in all things Teutonic I would appreciate your thoughts.

I really want to try Currywurst. It sounds right up my street. Can you advise me on what would be the best sausage and sauce combo to make my first experience a blinder? Vielen Dank im Voraus.

Kein Problem: https://www.chefkoch.de/rezepte/2230981357397906/Currywurst.html

Chefkoch.de is a great site, that recipe uses Bratwurst and they are probably the best for Currywurst, although I like it with Käsekrainer and if you want a less chewy Wurst it is quite nice with Wiener (what we would call Frankfurter).

There is a good Quarkuche recipe on that site from Tante Gertrud, well worth trying, although worth at least halving the amount of sugar, just reading the original can cause diabetes.
