Touchpad problems

Hi guys, I recently had to wipe my laptop (Octane 3)

After reinstalling everything I cannot for the life of me stop the touchpad from working, I've tried hot keys, laptop software, uninstalling, I even downloaded a program called Touchpad Blocker but nothing stops it working!
It's super frustrating.
Anyone else had this or knows how to fix it?

Appreciate any help, thanks.

You likely don't have the driver installed. Windows has a basic driver that will operate the touchpad but without the bells and whistles.

Running Windows Update should find the right driver, failing that it will be in the downloads for your build on the main PCS website (probably called Synaptics)

On top of what Ubuysa says the newer Synaptics touchpad updates remove their tab under Control panel>Mouse Settings & the Touchpad entry under the new Win 10 settings doesn’t have any way to disable the touchpad.
To recover full settings you either have to never update Synaptics or to install the Microsoft precision touchpad driver which adds full settings to the Touchpad entry in Settings.
https://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/66163/how-to-install-precision-touchpad-drivers-on-windows-10/ This will add extra touchpad options under Settings>Devices>Touchpad.

Right, so I tried getting into "your build" on the main PCS website but unfortunately I bought the laptop 2nd hand a few years back so no luck there.

I've run windows update, everything is up to date it says.

There is no synaptics on my machine anywhere that I can find after running the install, even though it says it's installed.

Anything I could try? :(
