Ahh, hmm so there's no way to save everything without using other programs and stuff? So when I do a backup, what does it actualy save, and if I then resynced on the new computer what would I get back? Thanks to all btw!

It will back up your phones data such as texts / pics / app data etc but not the actual music or apps themselves.

the apps settings, save games, high scores or whatever app data is there.

if you are able to, update on the old computer to ios5 then register for icloud on icloud.com and setting your updates to wifi. Never worry again as your music has been uploaded to the cloud

Won't let me sync without erasing everything and starting again, even on old computer

doesn't it give an option to backup? if not put your phone into USB mode and in the hidden folders there is your music, just rip those out and sync to your new computer.

How do you put in USB mode, and what steps do I take after that?
