Valeon Extremely Slow - Potentially Not Leaving Office Mode

I would use this version, that one doesn't seem to highlight the breaches properly, I'm guessing as it's a trial version rather than the free version

Use the classic version

Just wanted to add another update: I used to have under the power options the AMD Ryzen High Performance. Now I only have "Balanced". Not sure how to get the power option back.

I believe that's just installing the AMD Chipset package.

Worth doing as that could be the issue with it not being compatible versioning with control center

Easiest way would be to open device manager, that should show you what motherboard chipset you have

Then search that chipset number and driver and should be able to find it

Awwr man I was feeling more confident, but no, latest ryzen 9 5900HX chip set drivers now installed and no difference in performance.

Ok this is weird, Hades starts and plays perfectly. I know its not that intensive but it also starts my fan going as normal. God of war still the same, Heaven Benchmark still the same.

Oh hmm I didn't have other options. I used the autodetect thing on AMD's website but also I just went here:

There weren't other other options. Was I looking in the wrong place?

Ah, sorry, my bad, I always forget AMD use adrenalin which basically searches for any outstanding drivers for the chassis, so it should have included chipset.

Sorry mate, my brain is melting.

I think you've done some really good investigation here, I would create a support ticket for PCS to perhaps do a remote session to investigate further.

With any luck it's a software issue they can fix remotely without you having to ship it back for RMA.

The outlier for me is that thermal throttling flag, I'm sure that's important and probably causing major throttle preventing GPU from being utilised, but for the life of me I can't see where that reading is coming from.

FIXED IT! :D

So basically I ran Heaven benchmark with the ATI integrated card to see if there was a difference and I was getting better performance (it wasn't good but that's to be expected) so I was thinking this maybe helps it narrow it down to something weird with the nvidia card.

I downloaded DDU, a tool I wasn't aware of, and wiped both the Nvidia drivers and the Radeon drivers in Safe Mode (god is safe-mode in widows 10 a ball-ache!!)

Then to keep things simple I just installed drivers from Geforce Experience and things seems to be working well again (didn't bother with the Radeon drivers)!

So I am guessing corrupted Nvida drivers that weren't fixed by a simple re-install. What I can't explain is why I had this problem both pre and post formatting my hard-drive and starting from scratch. Guess it will remain one of life's mysteries!

Very odd, but we'll done for fixing it and getedng back the reply.

Never mind, it's not fixed!

Back to how it was. No idea at how it ended up working before but now it is exactly the same way 4fps etc.

RMA has been requested but I wanted to post an other update: Results from GPUz and CPUz

Although I am starting to get a bit out of my element there seems to be something very wrong with the GPU currently set clock speeds. How does this happen and is there a way to correct it (if it isn't a hardware fault).

That's the thing, this is usually related to the PL values being reset by control center if it's an unsupported windows version (Windows 11), this is the same behaviour were seeing in that scenario where someone updates while having a Windows 10 version of control center installed and it causes issues.

The symptoms fit but you've not updated to windows 11, so this appears to be a new issue.

I see that makes sense! ... so actually I don't want a new issue, I would rather have a really old issue that everyone knows how to solve. Can I have that instead please?

Yeah, the first thing that caught my attention was the GPU clock speeds - they absolutely should not be that low except maybe when idle, and they ARE causing your performance issues.

Earlier this year I had a similar issue (with Windows 10) where the clock rates would get stuck at their lowest, and the only way to fix them would be to flash the BIOS. I must have flashed the bios 3 or 4 times between February and May, then for some reason the problem didn't come up anymore (I don't know if this is just luck or if a Window update fixed it for good).

I posted about it here: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...vidia-gpu-stuck-at-minimum-clock-speed.87911/

Wow interesting!

My RMA has started but I haven't yet sent the laptop off. I have emailed support to see if they will send me files to flash the BIOS!

Thanks so much for posting!
