Yes it's me again...

Wondering why my PC is very slow to do anything from when you power on until the PC Specialist logo/ bios options screen comes up.

It's pretty quick once it gets to that point but getting there...

I've had a peek in the BIOS can't see any obvious 'wait 30 seconds' command or similar.

Motherboard is : GIGABYTE X570S AORUS PRO AX (rev. 1.0) : ATX (USB 3.2 Gen 1, PCIe 4.0, CrossFireX, WI-FI) - ARGB Ready!

It's not really an issue, just a bit odd, never had that before, like it's waiting for something, it goes like a scalded cat once the logo screen comes up.

"Slow" is completely subjective, what may be slow to you may be absolutely normal to anyone else.

Can you take a video of it booting and post it?

OK I turned off Profile 1, the only other entry was 'disabled' with nothing esle terribly intuitive on how to manually get it back to 3600.

This cut the cursor showing from 50 seconds to 30, but of course now my memory is at 2133

Still not convinced everything is as it should be, even 30 secs is a long time on modern hardware.

I attempted to manually change the memory, but that only resulted in failure to even Post, so one quick reset later and back to auto it's looking like I'll have to live with it and hope for a future BIOS update that will resolve it. I won't be getting any more Gigabyte products though.

I wouldn't just put up with it, raise a ticket with PCS and they should be able to remote on and do some testing.

We've only done one troubleshooting step, it will likely take quite a few more.

LAN boot isn't selected is it? Where you have the boot options, checking the LAN can take an age.

Isn't that after post though?
Booting from the LAN is after post, but it can sometimes do a check for a live connection during post.... similar to doing the RAM & drive checks.

RAID checking was always another one that took time up for me during splash when not configured correctly.

Slow POST could indicate issues with CPU/RAM or that it is looking for alternate boot locations , PXE boot , USB , etc . POST is essentially a power on self test and it test various components to see if it is healthy enough to proceed with the OS boot .
The diagram from the manual is interesting as it shows what is connected to what .

OK

I've rang PCS

Now I'm back we're going to begin with yanking the RAM & CMOS and reinserting. I'll also take the opportunity to try boot with and without the fake Corsair RAM (RGB only) in case it's that.

I can confirm that the SSD is set as primary boot device, and going from memory I don't believe there's any wake on Lan enabled.

I'll also try without having the powered USB 3.0 hub connected as I dimly recall reading that sometimes that can slow things down. I've already set that up so nothing important like mouse/keyboard is dependant on having it connected.

No change after:

Reseated CMOS

Reseated all RAM

tried both with and without the Corsair fake RAM (RGB only)

Unplugged the powered USB 3.0 hub (which apparently has caused issues in the past)
