Want a pc to last me a few years

I'm pretty set on 7 ultimate,

Unless you are going to benefit with the additional features of ultimate which includes support for more than 16gb RAM then I would just suggest the win7 home edition.

Excellent most helpful tar, I'm pretty set on 7 ultimate, but liked the new direct x and stuff with 8, but I suppose that can be installed, my own feeling is that 8 is more for touch screen.

All points taken, I've never had 2 hdd before I take it games are on the ssd and storage is on the standard ?

In my case yes, SSD as the primary drive and caviar black as the secondary drive.
