The list above isnt a huge help to be honest, can peice together some stuff.
i5-3470 CPU
8GB RAM but no idea which RAM (CPU would indicate DDR3 as well)
P8Z77-V LX Mother board so Asus website can tell us more https://origin-www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z77V_LX/specifications/

Case its in would be useful, current GPU (if any), googling the CPU it says it has Intel HD graphics 2500. PSU wattage and make/model
Think of it like the list in the configurator.

Whats the new build you ordered anyway? Is that going to your son and you're getting left with the cast offs?

If you can get your son to log into his PCS account and transfer the warranty across to you (even if it has expired) then this will enable you to access the full PC specs to enable us to give advice on what to upgrade , if anything is possible. It also makes it easier for you to access an actual "Upgrades" section of that PC's order which you can see what possible upgrades are still possible to order via PCS.

Unfortunately, if it is a self build, or a build from elsewhere we are unable to advise on this forum, but point you in the direction of Toms Hardware - an open forum.

Ah.. I see I did not know about the PCS specifics build advice only.. Sorry for the interruption.
I will ask my son and try to find out. I will find another forum to help if its not a PCS build. Feel free to delete this thread once I've confirmed the builder... or before if required.. Thanks..

You have a current build, and youve linked that above and spoken about that... Assuming you move onto that with new replies I cant see them locking it, and they rarely delete unless real reason.

We've pointed you in the right direction anyway, least now you know what you gotta find out, and where to go for more answers :)

Talking of your current build, looks like you had a budget... builds a fair one overall. Regarding the extra fans and the light strips though.. if theres a little spare cash to pump those, it would be well served polishing some of the actual machine instead...

Perhaps the OS drive or a step up on the CPU perhaps? Its an extra Ā£40 or so...

The 50 quid you are paying for fans and 2 lighting strips, and by dropping the WiFi card and taking the Tuf 550 w/WiFi would allow you to upgrade CPU to a 5600X or 3800X.

You only realistically need one extra fan anyway, as a rear exhaust. Its possible you could upgrade your build a little, and even save money, worth looking at it in your amendments part on the order. Even with a 3800X (so 8 core) the price is less than what your current order comes to atm.

I am afraid i don't know as much as i should these days and you guys and girls do... I don't mind spending a little more but i was worried about dropping back in the queue for a build...
If there are any upgrade that would benefit me in the future please let me know.
I assume the 3800X better than the 5600X.. ā˜ŗļø

Got to remember im looking at current prices in the configurator, so theres possibly some difference to when you paid, but worth looking at it through amendments, should tell you how much the changes would cost or refund to you

Yes and no, I think it would come down to purpose as the 3800X is 8 core, but the 5600X is the brand new series...
If gaming, I think the 5600X would actually be better but worth asking some others @AgentCooper @SpyderTracks @Scott
