Hi all,

I want to install another 2TB SAMSUNG 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD . I have one installed already in my new PC in the top slot number 1 . Which slot should I install the other one ? I believe there might be an issue with lanes ? I'ts been a while since I looked inside a PC !

We love you Ukraine
Windows update for Intel affected MBs is avaliable
Windows can't protect against the issue, it's a voltage issue, windows has zero control over voltage.

As you're unwilling to provide the specs we have to assume this isn't a PCS system, you'd need an open forum

I apologise for my ignorance, latest BIOS for my motherboard and Intel CPU has been installed on my new PC, purchased last week from PCS .
EXPAND ALLCOLLAPSE ALL
BIOS

Version 1704
13.54 MB 2024/10/21
"1.Updated with Intel microcode 0x12B to address elevated voltage requests during idle or light activity, further mitigating Vmin Shift instability issues.
2.The option to disable C1E in the BIOS has been removed to ensure it remains enabled, reducing processor stress and maintaining stability per Intel's recommendation.

Updating this BIOS will simultaneously update the corresponding intel ME to version 16.1.32.2473. Please note after you update this BIOS, the ME version remains the updated one even if you roll back to an older BIOS later.
Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (A5469.CAP) using BIOSRenamer."

According to the manual, the only m.2 slot that is shared with anything is the top-most m2_1 - which shares PCIe 5.0 x 16 with the 2 PCIe 5.0 slots (what look like GPU slots) If there's an m.2 SSD in the m2_1 slot then the PCIe16_1 slot goes down to x8 and PCIe16_2 is disabled.

The other 4 m.2 slots are all PCIe 4.0 x 4, so I'd install in the easiest one to access.
