Wifi keeps dropping

Currently i have this in my machine:

My Wifi keeps dropping and i have to re-connect in various times of the day, my router is downstairs, office is upstairs, just bought a WiFi booster for upstairs but im still getting drops.

Should i get a PCI Wifi Card rather than use a USB dongle? Would that be more reliable?

I will at some point connect my router directly to my PC but cant do it currently.

Firstly you need to check the signal hitting your repeater. There’s no point having the repeater boosting a weak signal as it doesn’t actually improve anything. All a repeater does is pick up that signal at that strength and broadcast it again, so if it’s picking up a weak strength, what it repeats will still be weak.
