WiFi to hardwired

Hi all,

This is a PCS build and order details are below my question.

If I switch from the installed WiFi card to an ethernet cable do I need to remove the WiFi card from the PC?

The internet access point is less than 2m away from my PC in my room and I figured I'd be better use it?

Any advice on what cable to buy? Cat 5e or something better?

Thanks,
Jamie

Cat5 only goes up 100Mbps afaik though so if your internet speed is higher than that you'll need 5e or better if you want your full speed

I'd get a Cat 6 cable....even if you don't use the speeds of it now, you might do in a year or two and then need to buy new cable

Something like this:

Agree, you want a Cat 5e, Cat 6 cable - as mentioned cat 5 (no e) is old and only up to 100 in speed. if you're buying new, I'd go with cat 6 at least now.
