Worth a Motherboard Upgrade?

Wouldn't it be better to get two fans then?

That way there would be 3 intake fans and 3 extraction fans, but since 2 are powerful liquid cooler fans, there would still be more extraction than intake?
You can only buy them in a 3 or 5 pack from PCS. Also the LL additional fans are RGB, where as the standard case fans are not.

The extraction being higher than intake, will allow better cooling for your GPU. I had GPU temp issues at first with an elite capellix, where my gpu was sitting at 80 degrees, which puts the gpu fans to 100%, so i kept the intake (elite capellix ML120) on quiet and exhausts (ML120) on extreme and the temps dropped 12 degrees, whilst the pc remained near enough silent (sub 30db).

Okay I'll get the 3 fans, thanks!
They will mount the radiator on the top of yours though, so the powerful fans will be the exhaust. 3 intake and 3 exhaust with the exhaust being more powerful, is the more ideal setup.

The last spec you posted still had some things that could do with changing, and i'm not sure a 5950 will actually gain you anything (I dont think its the best suited given what uses youve mentioned)

I would of done something like this (still a very premium build) and then you would want 1440p screens (minimum) to go with it, its be very well suited to 1440p ultrawide (argueably overkill) and if i'm correct, should be a nice pairing for 1440p super ultrawide, and comfy on 4K 60Hz

Thanks for the advice.

I'm keen to keep the 5950x for three reasons:
1) Running all the microservices is processor-intensive, I think I will make good use of it
2) Longevity, to avoid replacing it for a long while.
3) I can afford it.

In terms of memory, 32GB will be needed for the microservices.

I also plan to dual boot Windows on one M.2 SSD and Ubuntu on the other, so keeping 2 x 2TB drives will help with that.

What do you mean by the radiator? Do I need to try and add a note to my order to ensure they set up my fans in the most optimal configuration?

Regarding extra fans, the 5000D comes with new fans from Corsair, but I havent seen them out on the open market for direct purchase yet.
If you contact PCS you can ask them to replace, rather than just add more fans in (the case takes fans just about everywhere...)

It maybe be a better idea to buy 3 fans seperately...depends how you feel about putting them in.
I'd take the airguide one at the front out, put 3 ML fans in the front and then leave the airguide one in the rear.
You should end up with the spare airguide fan then in your welcome pack/box

As Ash says, the radiator and fans for the coolerunit will be fitted into the roof, youd get an airguide fan sucking air out at the back and radiator fans out the top, with three fans at the front to pump air in.

The AIO uses a pump and a radiator to use liquid to cool the cpu. They will have to mount the radiator on the top, as the fans are 140mm each and the radiator is 280mm, plus top mount is optimum - there is no way they’d do it another way.

I agree the ML fans are great and easy to fit.

OP if you are happy to fit them yourself, they will cost around £85 for 3, but they only have 4 LED’s per fan.

Would it be an idea to push a little more on the case budget and go for the 5000X?
3 RGB fans already that way, all of them the new Airguide ones, but just three in the front, can get a ordinary ML fan to go as the rear extra that way which is around £20. Case is £20 extra... so would be a little less overall

Only have to buy one fan more, rather than 3.

The 5000X has worse cooling, so the fans either need to run higher rpm and louder or allow the parts to sit hotter.

Off the top of my head, i can’t remember the exact amount, but i think it may be like 6 degrees difference.

Thats quite a difference... Im assuming due to the glass?
Maybe not that route then lol

Yeah it’s the glass panels (front and top). Although the 5000X is still a very high performing case, just the airflow is even better. I prefer the look of the airflow also and i am very overkill for cooling.

I'd rather not. I'm a complete beginner to the world of PC hardware.

I'm sure it's not too hard but I'm assuming the fans need plugging in the PSU for power and the motherboard for fan control, and I'm sure I'd end up plugging the fans into the wrong pins on the motherboard...

Assuming I don't want to fit fans myself, what do you suggest I do with PCS? Just add 3 fans to my order and hope for the best?

No, you screw them into the case and then insert the cables from each fan into the controller. That is all. The LL fans on here are a good deal though and performance between the ML and LL probably won’t make too much difference.

You can contact PCS and they can put notes on the build if you are going to be replacing any existing fans rather than just adding to them.
