Bet you can't beat my download speed!

Virgin Media are not really supplying me with my 30meg broadband I'd say....

They blame it on the students in the area coming back, but they have done nothing to fix it in the 2 years I've been with them. Last time it happened it took over 4 months for it to get sorted out, I've already had rubbish net for 2 months now, and I don't believe a word when they say it will be fixed by Novemeber 30th.

I'm not savy with all the tech stuff but surley in 2 years they should of sorted out the over utilisation problem by now?

I don't pay for the net when it's like this, and this month I was a "tad" irrate so they said I wouldn't pay for any of my bills this month except phone calls.

You God Damn Right You Shouldn't Pay For That :0 That's Shocking And Not Just That If Your On A 30Mb Plan Its Most Certainly Breaking Your Contract Agreement With Them Ring Them Up Tell Them They Either Sort It Out Within The Week Or Your Switching ISP's That Usually Does The Trick They Hate To Lose Customers Do These Big Companies :S

How did you manage to get the results with no download bandwidth at all : )
Looks like some sort of security firewall/router thing

yeah tbh tht doesnt look right, Ive never seen it go flat 0 and to me that suggests a faulty set of readings rather than a faulty connection. Obviously im not saying its compeltely wrong and you have a fast connection but something is being blocked as prisoner said.

You ping is low enough and upload fast enough so something is blocking your incoming connection.

I'm exceptionally lucky because I think we're one of the only people in our area to be on this plan, which I'm assuming contributes to how much speed you get right? But Virgin Media have been very good to me, at least a lot better than BT who insisted we could only get 2mbps, and then told us they could give us 20mbps so when we went for it they delayed for ages before saying it was an error and we couldn't get it after all (this is after sending out the router and everything which they had to collect), so got frustrated and switched to VM and haven't looked back :)

This is mine, which suits me fine given I'm on a 10Mb line :)
Tends to stay the same whatever time of day it is.

I live in the North west and am on Virgin 10mb tariff. At the moment am getting 9.8 mb download, 0.5 mb upload. I know this seems pretty quick but steam can take an absolute age.

if i was you gerb, i'd check that everything is ok on your end of the line, then change your provider if they dont do anything about it.

I've already had an engineer come over and said theres nothing wrong with my side of things :) The bloke was quite funny really but anyway...

The trouble is it's not always bad, sometimes it's really good and the fact that I'm only paying £3 this month for my tv, net and phone accpectable compensation for me.

I just really know who to switch to as I've heard similar stories from some of my mates.
