ZOTAC RTX3070 Fan 2

Hi purchased the PCS Votex ST-S from Currys PC World before Christmas.

Today Fan 2 on the GPU Zotac RTX-3070 twin edge , the smaller one sounds like a bucket of spanners in a tumble dryer very noisy when under load, sounds like its clipping the shroud.

Diagnosed with the Zotac Firestorm utility. When the noise kicks in I can manually control its fan speed until its stops. Or indeed speed it up to 60% so it starts.
Under automatic control the noise will start when you play MSFS2020 flight sim.

Question, do I contact PC world or PCS direct.
Thanks in advance.

PCWorld are your retailer.
You bought it from them. They will likely try to deflect, but 100% their responsibility to fix.

PCS provide to them, should they want to take it up with PCS they can but thats nothing to do with you, thats PCS as a supplier to PCWorld.

Cheers chaps, PC World pointed me in the direction of PCS who despatched a new GPU via DPD who'll collect the faulty one at the same time.
Great service by PCS I have to say.
Also registered my warranty with them at the same time.
Excellent new, well done (y)

Very confused why PCS had to replace the card rather than PCWorld, but you're sorted which is the important thing!

Yes, it should really be PCWorld sorting things, but so long as it got resolved is what matters most.

I tend to get people to register with PCS and avoid Curry's because they tend to invariably avoid their responsibilities and push people to PCS.

It’s a pcs product, they are the maker. Warranty is ultimately with Zotac, but they will only deal with pcs on the first year.

True, but that product was sold to PCWorld who then sold it on...
Maybe i've got confused somewhere, but i'd take that to mean PCWorld would have to replace, and they would then (if they wished) be able to take that up with PCS to recoup their loss on it, not the end customer.

Anyway, doesnt matter, as I said, important bit is its all sorted!

I think Pcs has a deal with CurrysPCworld to distribute their systems. You can bet your life, most people who come onto thr pcs website do a custom build. So to sell these prebuilts, without the need to advertise... here comes a big name retailer.

PCWorld are responsible for any warranty issues when the system is bought.

It is their duty to replace the PC if there's anything wrong with it, then go through returning problem builds back to PCS to get them fixed.

Getting the system working again lies with PCworld yes, but the faulty product is an issue with Zotac/gigabyte/asus etc and pcs/pcw will ultimately take the faulty product back and replace it with a working one, back to pcs.

Yeah, but that's PCS responsibility, nothing to do with PCWorld or the buyer. The buyers contract is with PCWorld.

PCS own the kit, PCWorld are merely resellers.

PCS would have a setup with their suppliers where they'll build up a load of duds and return them on masse for replacements, they wouldn't just send bit by bit back.

It's like buying items off Amazon, or any other online retailer. Any defects are returned to the retailer, not the manufacturer. Only once your initial sale warranty ends with the retailer would you then go to the manufacturer.

In fact, most manufacturers will implicitly tell you to contact the place you bought it if it's only recently been bought and will flatly refuse to deal with you. It's just that PCS are very accommodating and bend over backwards to help out wherever they can.

Just to close the thread.
Received new GPU, boxed, seals intact, delivered by DPD who took the faulty one away

Fitted and all working okay. Thank you PCS for making this a very good experience.

In fairness Currys PC World ' TechKnowHow' the tech and know how is debatable, did advise that PCS will own the issue and resolve it.

At the end of the day, I'm guessing each supplier that deals with Currys might have a different agreement, either way it's a Zotac product, under OEM warranty and whether Currys or PCS replace it, neither are out of pocket.

And I'm sorted.
Cheers everyone.

Very pleased it's sorted and relatively painlessly, that's all that matters (y)

You’re lucky they sent you to pcs. I’m still waiting on Currys to send me my replacement 3070... 8 days so far 🤨
At least the 3070 stocks are better than most of the other cards, hopefully you'll get it soon, fingers crossed for you!

They said they are due a new batch imminently and will dispatch it then. Not holding my breath though. Initially they wanted to just refund me and i said no... replacement. Not the worst company to deal with, but certainly not the best
