Have you got HWMonitor installed, it can give you some basic battery health info but it sounds like the battery is deeeeeead. Will the laptop boot at all with the mains disconnected? 7 years life for a battery isnt bad at all tbh

Nope, generic PnP Drivers are correct. As long as you've downloaded the Nvidia drivers then you are good to go
