After spending far too many years in engine rooms of frigates, sat next to screaming Gas Turbines with little or no ear protection (90's elf n safety didnt really account for much in the Royal Navy), I havent got the best hearing to appreciate vinyl, but I do love music.
Earliest memory of it...
Have a look at this thread by one of the MODs, it's really good, at your budget you can go for a "High End" 1080p or "Mid Tier" 1440p-
https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/threads/desktop-building-guide-sept-2020.67892/
Ok, have you already got a monitor and what's the spec (1080p, 1440p or 4K) or model number, this will have a big impact on the type of graphics card you need.
Are you keeping the old laptop as you can transfer Windows across (assuming you have Win 10)
If you knew of someone with a graphics card, I guess you could always whip it in to make sure it's the card at fault, that way PCS would send a replacement out, which is quicker than returning the PC into the repair loop
1 long beep, followed by 3 short ones is a GPU error, switch off your PC, earth yourself to the chassis and pull out the GPU, then pop it back in and make sure the cables are secure.
It's your money bud, but you really wont see the difference between the two cards maybe 10% max you need to be driving top end monitors to notice.. They are both premier league tbh,
I know there isnt a budget cap on this build, but isnt the RTX 3080 a better card for gaming? Might've got my wires crossed (again) but I thought the 3090 was more for professional work?
Thats a 1080p panel isnt it? Are you planning on buying a higher resolution one? Just thinking the RTX 3080 is a bit of an overkill? Also @SpyderTracks is probably the guy to ask, but I hear that AMD are releasing news on the new Zen 3 (5000 series) CPU's next week, might be worth holding out...
I literally grabbed that on the go mate, as the OP asked what the differences were (cores etc), didnt mean to demonstrate that this would be the real world expectations or performance
Here's a comparison for the CPU's https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i9-10900K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-10700K/4071vs4070
However if the rig is purely for gaming then you are wasting your money on Intel but you've already said you aint interested in AMD, so I wont waste my breath. The...
Your laptop has a 1MP camera built in, so ok give or take it's a bit it's not far off?? Deffo nothing in your account drivers section, I know they are not exactly easy to find sometimes?
According to my google-foo, your board will accept DDR3 2400 mhz and a max of 8GB per slot, giving you a max of 32gb. Not sure if you'll need to do anything with the BIOS though
It's totally your choice at the end of the day, I messed up and ordered, then came on the forum. Tbh I wish I had returned my PC within the 14 day cool off period. Dont get me wrong, mine is everything I ever wanted but if I went down the AMD route I wouldve got a better machine for the money...
What resolution are you trying to aim for, if you include the url from your ordering page, the gurus can go in and tweak things for you.
Have a read on this page, one of the MODS detailed all the different price points and specs all in one area-...
Looks like 64gb of RAM is gonna be an overkill unless you do have a specific need but you deffo dont need that for gaming. An AMD 3600X or the 3800X would be a better choice than the Intel chip.
Do you need that much storage???
