To be honest, those Recoil 17"s have the best cooling solution that I've seen, judging by the temperatures that people are reporting on the benchmark thread: https://www.pcspecialist.ie/forums/threads/real-users-benchmarks-rank-of-pcs-laptops.76665/
However, there is one thing that caught my...
Sad to hear that, @mrlip . Are you plugging the brick cable directly into the wall? And have you also tried plugging it into another room's socket, just in case? I'm wondering if there is a problem with a power extension or the wall socket. If not, hopefully it's just the power brick 🤞
I would only use DDU in case you have any issues. Otherwise, just a custom install of the Nvidia drivers (yes, directly from their site) with the "clean installation" option marked should be good enough.
There are 2 things you need to do in order to have proper scores:
Update windows fully - Let all the possible updates be installed, then check updates again and again until you've run out of available updates. It will correct bugs and also prevent that windows could be installing something in...
Ideally on AUTO, but if you use MAX, just let me know and I'll add a note on the rank, as MAX fans do impact on performance and people need to know that for fair comparisons.
Up to you, really. That's why we have 2 ranks, one for stock (no CPU/GPU OC) and the other for whatever OC you would like to apply (just let us know what settings you've used)
That happened to me... they said that the max supported was 2666, but I bought 3200 and it does indeed work. However, I do understand why they say that: It's not simply plug-and-play (at least with my RAM and chassis), there was a process to get it to boot the first time with dual-channel at...
If I'm not wrong, at 3800 you loose the 1:1 clock mode to the CPU, so that why you're probably getting worse results. To keep 1:1, the farther you should go is 3733 to still get better results than with 3600.
That is indeed weird, but it could have something to do with different architectures (Zen2 x Zen3)?
No problem at all! I also got curious to see the difference and finally had a way to measure the improvements (y)
I tried pushing it further to 3666Mhz CL20 and while it boots, the system got...
There you are, 3200Mhz CL22 is about what I expected:
In summary, 9.5% increase in RAM performance (according to Passmark) from 3200 CL22 to 3600 CL20 at same 1.2 stock voltage.
Yes, I have a DTR that is originally 3200Mhz CL22 1.2V, which I overclocked to 3600Mhz CL20 keeping the stock voltage (not that I had a choice, anyway). My motherboard is based on the B450 chipset, so not sure if that will also have an impact on how far the overclock can go.
I will indeed run...
I'll pass, but thanks :ROFLMAO: Glad you made it! Now you can blame Asus and enjoy the game! 😅
Just one tip: Forza 4 is a lot better than the 3, specially in 2 points: AI and overall driveability (not even mentioning graphics here). But the 3 is lots of fun as well 👍
He might want to replace them, as when you're buying, there are many different thicknesses available. I agree that this would be very hard information to find, but I also would love to know mine just in case :p
@Maxx , while the thermal paste needs to be changed every time you remove the...
How are you guys checking the performance improvement of the RAM overclock? On a laptop is a lot harder because you can't change voltages, so everything needs to be very tight on the stock voltage, which is already quite low at 1.2V . The best I could do was to reach 3600Mhz CL20 on a stock...
