I asked them on the webchat and all the other components for my build are in stock at the moment, except for the 3080.
I amended the PSU to: CORSAIR 1000W AX SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® TITANIUM
It seems like it's a good future-proof option.
I will definitely post when mine goes into build, I ordered near 11PM on the 17th so I doubt there are many orders from that date after me. I think it'll be a fair assumption that they're nearly done with orders from the 17th when I get mine. I'll probably swap the CPU on the 5th though so that...
I'm upgrading from:
Intel i7-4710HQ 2.5 GHz (4 physical cores) with Intel HD Graphics 4600
NVidia GeForce GTX 860M 4 GB
16 GB RAM (upgraded from 8GB at some point)
I don't remember the exact model (and it's now pretty immobile because of its broken screen so I can't look underneath for some...
I think I would personally like that kind of information, while it doesn't give you any dates, it'd still be good to know that you'd be covered by the next batch they get.
The information I'd actually want is “100% sure that it won't be delivered sooner than yyyy-mm-dd", so I would know to not...
I ordered XG27UQ last weekend as it showed on Scan they were going to have some due today, however it changed now to the 18th of January... If nothing changes until the end of November and there are some in stock elsewhere I might cancel and buy from a different site, however on the other hand...
It's definitely good to see the queue moving a little bit, hopefully a November delivery is not unrealistic to hope for (ordered on the 17th close to 11PM).
I don't know how reliable UserBenchmark is, but 3080 is just so much better than my current graphics card in every way. I hope dropping...
I still play on consoles, but I haven't done any extensive gaming or modding on my laptop since around July when I started considering getting a new rig more seriously than just thinking "I should probably upgrade at some point". And I'm also holding off my leave for when I finally get the PC...
Speaking about communication, do you still receive these automated emails alongside the regular ones with estimated build date? I don't seem to receive them any more despite still waiting for the 3080, and I'm wondering whether they just stopped sending them. And incidentally, it'd probably be...
Good to know about the amendments. The only things I can think of that could have been out of stock at any point are the 1000W PSU I had in my original order (which I amended to 850W), and the H115i cooler that I added to my order, which should now be back in stock.
I don't really blame PCS for...
The real problem is not the waiting itself, but not knowing how long I need to wait and I just keep wondering, but unfortunately no-one knows any ETA. If my order doesn't go into building this week, I'll ask them on the web chat if the 3080 is the only thing delaying it, as I have amended my...
Now I wonder... What about those crazily high refresh rates such as 240Hz? If we can't see beyond 90, then those seem pointless. Unless there's more to it?
I amended my order to AMD via email and that was resolved quickly considering how busy they are, I just had to tell them which motherboard and CPU I wanted. The following was added to my order list as a sub-order:
And all I had to do is pay for the price difference (it was £139 for those...
Interesting to know. The thing is, currently with 4K you either get 60 or 144 and nothing in between... I have seen 120, but that's only for really huge screens.
The small drive is supposed to serve as a scratch disc for texture work, and the 1TB will be split to two partitions, one for the OS, and one for games and commonly used apps (I'm thinking of a 200GB/800GB split).
I got the automated email with an estimated date of 19th October, but without the usual following email that says to ignore it. I questioned them about it on the chat and was told to still ignore the estimated dates as they can't tell when they'll have enough stock to cover my order. I ordered...
I ordered a build with a 3080 and I plan to get a monitor to go with it either later this year, or very early in 2021 (most likely November-December). I was advised in another thread that 4K 144Hz is what I should be looking for to pair with the 3080, I then looked at the recommendation thread...
You may want to take a look at the build suggested to me by @SpyderTracks, it's very similar to yours but slightly lower-end (8TB drive was my original choice, but I then downgraded it to 4TB as that should be more than enough)...
I think I will leave the order untouched until the end of next week, if it doesn't go into building by then, perhaps I'd set a dispatch after date and wait until the 5th. And perhaps the stock situation won't mirror the 3080 one... In any case, either CPU should do great for what I might use it...
Thanks for the info. I paid with a debit card, which I assume is easier for them to deal with, so perhaps there won't be any more complications — I will see in the upcoming weeks (I don't expect to get it very soon because of the 3080). I don't plan any more amendments (all of you here helped me...
Looks like they were able change it, all I had to do is pay the price difference and I will be getting the AMD build!
There's one thing that confuses me though... Now my order uses the AMD configurator for amendments and I'm able to select the new 5950X, however when I do it, the cost goes down...
